***Lana's POV****
Ms Paltz legs were short but boy did they move so fast, I followed her across the large hallways of the mansion out towards the main house.
The houses looked like one I'd usually seen in movies and now I was getting a job here? Unbelievable.
We finally made it to a large room with double doors, she opened it gesturing for me to go in.
“Go in and make yourself comfortable, Mr Tristan will be with you shortly.”
“Thanks.” I said striding in slowly, the minute she jammed the doors shut I completely lost it.
This place was large as hell, from the looks it looked like a whole study with lots of books on towering shelves, a chandelier hung on every area of the room illuminating the room in soft gold lights.
I collapsed on the couch and sank in chuckling to myself, it was deep and soft as f**k almost swallowing me up.
The door handle twisting alerting me that someone was coming in, I composed myself sitting up on the chair.
Mr Tristan walked in, he now wore a white shirt on black pants, I'm sorry but I must say he is one fine old man, so young for his age.
The only thing that stood out were his gray beards, everything else felt fit. His soft skin, gray eyes, abs and long strides, he looked so young.
He walked towards where I sat and sat across from me, crossing his legs.
“So… Ms Lana, right?”
“Yes sir.”
“Thanks for what you did this morning, you saved my life and I owe you alot.”
I smiled lightly. “It’s what I enjoy doing sir, I hope you're completely fine now though?”
“Well,” he said, examining himself. “I look fit, don't I?”
I bit my lip.
Yeah you do…Oh Lana, get a grip.
“My breakdown was caused by stress, I'd be put on constant check-up and be monitored by my doctor…”
“Oh…is that what I'm also here for…?”
“Oh no no no, your job is different, actually… you're here to attend to my young nephew, he's crippled, nothing serious and he should start walking soon if taken proper care of.”
Oh, poor boy, must be really tough on him at that young age.
“No problem sir, I'll do my best to ensure his speedy recovery.”
He smiled.
“Here.” He extended a file to me. “Is a properly prepared agreement prepared by my lawyer, it includes everything you need to know about your job description and benefits.”
I took it from him squinting through the file.
— Live-in Nurse
— A private luxury suite
— All meals
— Full access to household facilities
— Transportation as required
— A complete designer wardrobe suitable for the household and public appearances
— Grooming and styling support when required
— $20, 000
“Twenty thousand dollars?” The words slipped out before I could hold it in.
Mr Tristan smiled lightly. “Yes, Lana but considering how you came through exceptionally, I'll be adding an additional advance of $10,000 this month , once you sign the papers and accept this job.
“But why me?” I asked, my eyes getting all teary.
“We considered hiring someone from the firms we usually get our nurses from but… Kylian needs true emotional care… so we need someone who can connect with him. That's why you're the perfect fit for this job.”
“Mr Tristan, I can't thank you enough, you just saved a soul by hiring me tonight, thank you.”
He nodded.
“It's okay, but you need to promise one thing, not revealing anything you find in this mansion.”
I motioned to my lips immediately, pretending to zip it up.
“My lips are sealed, I promise I'll keep everything confidential.”
Just then the door bell rang.
“Come in, Kylian.”
The doors swung open and I was expecting a little boy in a wheel chair to reel in but no, a full grown man identical to Mr Tristan reeled in.
“Uncle,”
“Kylian, you're right on time, meeting your private nurse who would be attending to you till you fully recover.”
He turned to me.
“Hi,” I said, waving slightly.
“I told you, uncle Kylian, I didn't need a private nurse, I can recover on my own, besides is this the best you can do? She looks more like a babysitter than a private nurse.”
Uhm, excuse you?
I shook my head slightly, the insults I had to endure because I wore this damn suit.
“Oh come on, Kylian, cut her some slack, she's here to stay and that's final. Lana, you can sign the documents at your earliest convenience, go through the contract clause and if you're in sign it and be back here on Monday morning.”
“I’m in, I agree to take the job.” I said almost immediately.
Kylian shook his head at how pathetic I must look right now but I didn't care, I needed the advance for my father's treatment and didn't care what I had to sign right now. Legally of course.
I placed the document on the desk, signing it with slightly shaky hands.
“Alright… Ms Lana, let me have your cash app.”
My heart raced, was this for real, I gave him real quick and my eyes almost bulged out when I saw the credit alert.
“Thank you sir. Thank you.” I bowed again, my eyes almost teary.
“No problem, you can take your leave, my driver will get you home safely, make sure to be back here on Monday fully ready.”
“Thank you,” I grinned, walking out of the room trying to control the happiness bottling up inside me, Kylian's eyes followed me and I swear I almost tripped.
*******
I ran to the first place that came to mind, the hospital.
Straight to the doctors office the cash I had withdrawn hugged tight in my suit, I didn't care that everyone was watching, all I needed to do was save my dad.
“Lana, what are you doing here?” Kayla caught me as I almost bolted into the doctor's office.
“I got a job, Kayla, I got an advance for my dad's treatment!” I squealed.
“For real?” She joined me in squealing and twirling, we quickly adjusted ourselves not minding the stares.
“I got this crazy job offer and I start on Monday, the pay is huge and I get to live in, no rent to worry about, no paying for meals…”
“Woah woah, Lana, that's crazy, that's awesome!”
“Right now…I'm off to pay the advance for my dad's treatment, I'll tell you more about it during the weekend, I've got no time.”
“Sure sure, go on.” She urged me.
I hugged her tight making my way into the doctor's office, I slammed the money on his desk and said almost short of breath.
“Start working on my Dad.”
