****Lana's POV****
Kylian still had on his innocent little smile, though I couldn't trust it one bit, why did he have to make me look for him and why was he even here in the first place.
"I see you're having fun..." I said coolly walking to his side.
He shrugged.
"Even though I'm a bit disabled, I do wish I could play a bit of tennis, I miss it so much" he cowered, sighing sadly.
What did he expect me to say or think, I just kept mute.
"I used to play tennis a whole lot, just spending hours of my free time here till I could no longer feel my arms."
He sighed, his eyes drifting up as he got lost in memories.
Maybe he wasn't so bad, maybe he was just grumpy because he misses Nerisse, how I wish she'd have a change of heart and be back in a jiffy, maybe he'd be more pleasant.
I sighed calmly, walking over to his side.
"You can still walk again, I'll have you treated and you'll be on your feet in no time."
He shook his head. "Nah, I'm too scared of walking again, it's way too scary now, it's almost like a thing I've never done before, starting all over again is super scary."
I smiled warmly, placing a hand on his shoulder reluctantly."I'm sure you'll be fine, I'm here to help you ease your fears."
So this was it, he was just scared of walking again, not that he had anything to hide, he was just too fearful.
…or so I thought.
Next thing this man placed his palm over mine on his shoulder smiling warmly.
I was slightly tense, my heart bobbling and steaming, memories shattering together from the first day I set my eyes on him to our first casual meeting where we had accidentally had a lip meeting, lol.
My heart raced aimlessly, he was touching me, he was really touching me.
"Lana?" He said warmly.
"Yes..." I stuttered.
"I've got something fun I'd really love for you to do for me..." He said with a broad smile.
I nodded, ready to do whatever he asked of me, suddenly forgetting the memory of last night where he had completely wrecked my work schedule, mental health and rest.
Er Maybe he had just been stressed.
"What is it Mr Kylian, I promise to do my utmost best." I said, smiling in return.
He pointed to the dozen tennis balls that lay on the court then placed his palm once more on mine before pushing it off.
"Get your hands off my shoulders and have them pick up those balls instead." He said, that devilish smirk sitting at the corner of his lips.
"What?" I stuttered.
"You heard me, Lana, get to work." He shook his head excitedly.
I grumbled.
"What? There are over a dozen balls, how am I supposed to pick them all up?"
"You agreed to help me honey, what's the problem?"
"But I-I… I didn't mean this sort of help?" I stuttered.
I can't believe the nerve of this man, the fact that he made me believe he had changed overnight and was probably going through something all this while, only to find out he was totally nuts and just playing with me.
I stomped my feet heading to the end of the court room where he had thrown the balls and started picking them all, muttering and cursing under my breath.
“Be careful, don't crush my balls, they're delicate…” he purred.
“I know what balls to crush now if I get the chance.” I grumbled under my breath glaring at him.
“What was that, Lana? You can't pick up the balls? Maybe I should just tell my uncle I no longer need a nurse.” He chuckled.
“No no no, I'm doing it.” I sighed, picking the balls aggressively. “$20,000…. $20,000 you really need that money, Lana, bear with him.”
I ran from one end of the court to another picking up the balls and shoving them into a basket.
Kylian just watched in delight, pointing at where I missed and which balls I accidentally stepped on.
“You missed one, right behind you…” he barked.
I growled under my breath trying not to glare at him.
I needed this job, I really needed the money for my dad's treatment, the money could also settle me for life, I got everything I wanted here so I didn't need to spend on anything.
All I needed to do was last here for three months, no matter what Kylian did or how he tried to break me.
Never complain Lana, keep your eyes on the balls.
“$20,000” I muttered under my breath. “If I quit now then I lose it all, I don't have $10,000 to refund to uncle Tristan…”
“Stop mumbling so much or you'll get exhausted early.” Kylian muttered.
I stood up straight looking at him, seriously? Like he cared.
“What? Tired already? You can quit now if you want… it's not like I'm forcing you or anything as you can see I can't walk….”
I shook my head, bent over and continued picking up the balls.
“I knew I heard noises coming from out here…” a familiar voice cooed walking into the tennis court.
Finn!
Who knew I'd actually be excited to see him this early.
“Finn, what is this? Do you live here now?” Kylian grumbled.
“What man, I love it here.” Finn chuckled, slapping Kylian hard on his back.
Kylian stiffened a shout, I knew he was dying to let out.
Chuckling under my breath I kept picking up the balls.
“Who do we have here, ain't that Lana?” He said walking closer. “What are you doing?”
I ignored him and continued picking up the balls.
“Let her be, she's just helping me clean up the court.”
Finn shook his head walking up to Kylian.
“She's your private nurse man, not your cleaner, you have lots of cleaners for this job, why are you doing this?”
“It's fine.” I straightened up. “I can totally handle this, I'm almost done… see?” I grinned in pain.
Finn shook his head.
The rest of his words weren't so audible but I knew he was talking to Kylian on my behalf.
“Come on Lana, go back to your room…” Finn said.
I straightened up, looking from him to Kylian, I wasn't about to leave here just cause Finn said so… Kylian would do worse if I did.
As if reading my thoughts, Finn nudged Kylian who waved his hand at me to leave looking away.
“Really?” I grinned widely. “Thank you!”
Dropping the basket of tennis balls, I walked hastily towards the door where Kylian and Finn were.
I could hear their words as Finn whispered to Kylian about something that obviously ruined his mood.
“Really? Why is she suddenly back in town?” Kylian glared.
“For business as usual.” Finn shrugged.
Something told me they were talking about Nerisse but I wouldn't dare interfere or ask, I just walked out of the court room.
Excited that Finn came to my rescue and for the possible fact that Nerisse was back in the states and Kylian's mood would be lighter.
