****Lana's POV****
The mansion was a little too quiet and calm these past few days.
Kylian wasn't grumpy or asking me to do anything out of the ordinary.
He was just a little too quiet and unpleasant, I did his usual rounds of check up without asking questions.
He didn't want to be disturbed either so I just went there in the morning and in the evening, no words exchanged, no yelling or anything else.
It felt weird but I appreciated his silence.
Whatever Finn must have told him, must have shaken him to the bones because he was too stunned to do anything else.
Finn on the other hand hadn't come in since the day we last met at the court.
I was just as surprised to see him the morning after I had just examined Kylian, he was on his way to his guest room when I saw him.
“Erm… Mr Finn?” I called out to him.
He paused at his door then turned to me, a bright smile washing over his face.
“Hey…. Pumpkin… how are you doing? Any troubles with you know who…” he teased.
“None really.” I replied to him.
“Alright, come on in…”he gestured, opening his door wide open.
“I…I couldn't…” I stuttered.
“I insist, please come in.” He grinned. “I don't bite.”
I chuckled. “Oh okay.”
I walked into his guest room and I know I shouldn't be so surprised by the exquisite and beautiful rooms in this mansion but I was still stunned.
Finn's room was the exact opposite of his personality.
He had this bad boy personality, the type that doesn't care about anything but bikes and speed but his room told a different story.
Unlike Kylian's, who just looked gloomy and expensive.
Finn's was a mix of latte green and white, it was neat, spacious and well designed.
“Your taste is really nice.” I said with a bright smile as I admired the paintings of nude women on the wall.
He shrugged.
“This is why it's my second home. Please, have a seat, what can I offer you?”
“A glass of water would be just fine.” I bowed shyly.
He waved a finger in defiance.
“Nope nope, you deserve something special, I'll get you wine, my special recommendation.”
“You'll love it.” He added.
I smirked, taking a seat on one of the mini couches in the room.
Finn went into the bar area of his room and was back in a couple of minutes, holding wine and two glass cups.
“Drink with me…”
“I can't get drunk…” I snarled shyly.
“This won't get you drunk, maybe a little tipsy but er… not too drunk.”
“If you insist.” I smirked while taking the glass cup as I watched him pour the wine in.
Lightly.
He poured his and went ahead to sit right opposite me, as we clinked glasses.
Tasted the wine, talked about its unique taste and laughed hard at his jokes.
“You know, you're the only one I've ever shared a laugh with in this house..” I chuckled. “Everyone else is just… all about their business and all… it feels good to be able to relax like this, thank you Mr Finn.”
I grinned.
That honestly came from my heart.
Everyone else was so uptight here that it made me feel like I didn't belong.
But with Finn, everything felt lighter and normal.
“Don't tease me Lana, those are my lines.” He chuckled. “Anyway… it's Finn and not Mr Finn.”
“I can't…” I chuckled.
“I insist…” he smirked.
His eyes were locked in on mine for a while, it felt awkward at the moment, so I sprinted up.
“I… have to get going… Kylian might need me at any time.”
“Oh yeah, sure, thanks for hanging out with me.” He smirked.
“No, thank you.” I offered my hand for a handshake.
He took it but raised it to his lips and kissed it.
His eyes, still on me.
“Enjoy the rest of your day, Lana.”
I couldn't utter another word, I was too stunned to speak, instead I walked out of his room carrying my heart in my hands.
Two maids bolted past me, chuckling as they passed by.
“I can't believe she's here.”
“Oh no, this mansion is about to get way hotter.”
They cooed, I had never seen the maids excited about anything before so I followed their trail and it led to the out part of the mansion.
Other maids were already assembled in a straight line just by the entrance.
Ms Paltz stood in the middle, hands folded neatly behind her back.
The gates were wide open, as though they were expecting someone.
Finn suddenly appeared behind me, walking in with a confident strut as he made his way to the center where Ms Paltz stood.
He looked serious for the first time.
“Is she here?”
Ms Paltz only nodded.
As if on cue, a white sports car zoomed into the estate with blaring horn and uncontrollable speed.
It halted right in front of the entrance.
The maids suddenly fell quiet as we watched in unison as the doors opened widely and a slender woman walked out.
She had white skin, white hair and thin red lips.
Her clothes were a glittering long peach dress and her fur which hung around her shoulders were as white as her.
She looked angelic and at the same time poisonous…
Nerisse….
She was as the book described, angelic, white and confident.
She walked onto the entrance as the maids scrambled to get her bags and dust her feet.
If anything, I felt admiration, so this was who Kylian's fiancee was, glorious in all senses and beautiful… Little wonder he had been grumpy over her disappearance, she carried light and probably took it wherever she went.
“Welcome Ms Nerisse.” Ms Paltz said.
“Nerisse, long time no see…”Finn smirked.
She ignored their greetings, head raised high, and she walked on into the mansion.
“Where's my fiance?”
She didn't wait for any response for anyone, rather she walked confidently into the mansion.
I trailed behind her.
She walked on into Kylian's, opening his door wide as she walked in.
“Erm I… I'm Kylian's private nurse just in case you're wondering why I'm trailing behind—”
“I know who you are.” She cut in.
Then she spun around just at the entrance.
“Thanks for taking care of my fiance.” She said with a warm smile that seemed rather too warm.
Kylian was sitting on his wheel chair, dressed in black on black, to mismatch her glamour.
He didn't look too happy.
But that was enough sight for the day, Nerisse walked right in and jammed the door shut in my face.
As I walked away, I overheard pieces of their conversation.
Nerisse said softly,
"I missed you."
Then after a long awkward silence, Kylian answered just as softly...
"I wish you hadn't come.”
