8. THE PACK

As I said earlier at the restaurant, we Werewolves are giuded by the law set by the ancient from the moon goddess" Azarh said to me.

"See, I actually don't know what an ancient is or who a moon goddess is, maybe you should start by explain that part to me". I state much to their surprise. I stiffed my laugh as I look at their shocked face before speaking again.

"What, where your expecting me to keep mute when I'm not clear" I said. After all I made the request for us to have this conversation in a more secluded place for me to be able to ask questions freely without any snooping ears.

"Not at all dear, infact I'm glad you are conversing" he said, as he beamed with smile on his face.

"So you asked about who an ancient is and who a moongoddess is. Well ancient are like the council member of all werewolf, the house of assembly or congress. They are usually the oldest among Werewolves. The ancient are made up of five oldest members each from all the twenty-four pack in England. So because they are the oldest they are call the ancient. Most of them are usually past, Alpha, Beta, gemma and the healers".

I looked at him in confusion once again, the only thing I recongnise is the Alpha and that because the doorman mentioned it. Moreover those name looks like Greek alphabet.

"I know it might sound confusing, but as I go on you will begin to understand". Azarh said to me. I nod my head in acceptance.

"The last slot belongs to the fierce fighter in the pack. So the ancient includes the past alpha, beta and gemma, then the healer and the fierce fighter. This five from each pack represent the strong towers of Werewolves."

"As I said earlier at the restaurant, I said one of the rule of werewolf is hierarchy. We all are placed according to our importance, we have the Alpha and luna of the pack, the Beta, the Gemma, the healers, the warriors, the helpers and the last on the hierarchy is the omega." He stops to know if I was following him. Of course I am, infact I'm hanging on his every word.

" The alpha, they are the head of the pack, the first contact head of the pack, his work is to protect his pack and his luna. The luna has equal power with the Alpha, her job is also to protect her pack but she specialize more on the walfares of the women and children in the pack. The Beta, he act as the deputy of the alpha, he or she has the role of the administration of the pack, the financial allocation and how the pack is run but all final say still reside with the Alpha, the Alpha need to approve everything before they act on it. The Gemma are the third in command, their role involves the training of warrior and new recruit, they are also involved in the patrol of the pack.

I hope you understand all what I just said" Azarh said looking at me with expectation. I understand what he just said. Being a werewolf is quite fascinating, all this information is as if I'm in a history class, but this one is quite fascinating unlike the history class at my school in New York.

"Okay, I now know about the hierarchy of werewolf, so who is the alpha, luna, beta, gemma of this pack and you still have to tell me about the role of the last four. I know the healer are those in charge of the health of the pack member if I'm correct" he nod in approval... " and the warriors are the fighters, the defender of the pack" he nods his head once again.

" if I'm correct again the helpers are like the slaves or housekeeper in the pack" this time around he shook his head.

"Actually the housekeeps and slaves are the omegas, who are the last in the rank, they are either forgiven traitors or rouge we save. The omega will have to work very hard to gain his respect in the pack, while the helpers are just the average pack member, they are ready to render assistant to the pack when the time arise, it's their free will to help unlike the omegas whose work is to always render assistant be it willing or not". He said.

"As for the question you asked earlier, I'm the alpha, your dad is the beta my gemma is on a trip and my luna, my mate she is somewhere in the pack house" he said, as his face brightens with emotion at his mention of mate. It was as if he was imaging her here with him.

"What is a mate" I blurt out my question, because I remembered mother using that term, about me being the mate of a monster. It not as if I don't know what mate is, but coming to know about this world I Accually need to ask for the meaning of every term used.

"A mate is your other half, a person given to you by the moon goddess to be by your side for ever". Dorothy answered instead of her father.

Does this mean, the person I'm destiny to spend the rest of my life with is a monster, I thought in my head.

" dad I think all the history is enough for now, I'm taking Aubree for that tour I promised her" Dorothy said to her father.

"You girls can go ahead, I have somethings to treat with Ruben and tell your mother I love her" Azrah said to Dorothy.

"You know you could mindlink her and tell her yourself". She said

"I want her to hear it from you" he said. I watch how father and daughter are bickering at each other, I wish I was able to build such a bond with my father.

We left the office passing the smiling secretary on our way out towards the elevator. As we stepped into the elevator Dorothy mutter some words under her breath.

I'm still quite bother about this mate stuff. So I turned to Dorothy and asked.

"Do you know the story about my birth"? I asked her. He body stiffen at my question, she breath in before answering me.

"Uhn, you know I was about a year old when that happe, I didn't witness was actually happened, but according to what my mother told me, she said and old exile alpha came at your birthday day and marked you as his. Mother thinks the alpha is not your mate but he was feral from spend his life in isolation and loneliness, so he decide to mark a new horn child because a grown up woman will not willing live with him so he has to catch them young. That was the excuse my mother gave but I don't believe that s**t of an excuse because why would he have to go feral on your birthday if he is not your mate" she said to me and looked in my direction when I haven't given any reaction to her statement.

"You don't have to think about it dear, anyways to make you feel better I kind of enjoy bond like this, to be mate with an ancient being" she tells me as she shrugged her shoulders.

The ding-dong sound of the elevator indicate our arrival on the ground floor.

Dorothy took me on the tour of the ground floor which contains the big living room for the pack member, a conference hall for official meeting. It also has a game room with different games which includes a ping pong table, table tennis, videos game, dart board, whot cards, chess board and whatever game you are looking for. The game room was empty as at the time we were there, according to Dorothy everyone has gone out for their day business but the please is always crowded in the evening.

We played some video games before she took me to the kitchen. The kitchen is very huge, spacious, and is divided onto sector, it have the baking and pastries sector, the local dish sector, the continental dish sector, the herb and spices sector, the fruits sector. I mean whatever dish you want you will get it their, I could stop my self from tasteing majority of dish before we left the kitchen.

By the time I came out from the kitchen my stomach was already full. This was the first time I ate a lot food and my past didn't come back to hurt me.

We went back to the elevator to go to the first floor. Dorothy said it there wasn't much here for us to see because it contains the rooms of some of pack members that leave in the pack house and each rooms has it own mini sitting room two bedrooms and a bathroom and toilet. I was marveled this was really great. The second and third also consist of rooms like that. On each floor it has thirty mini apartment, altogether that makes 90 mini apartment.

I really love this idea of accommodation, I commended Dorothy's father for this genius idea.

On the fourth floor was where the children nursery is together with their play house, that was where I met Dorothy's, this lady was beautiful and welcoming.

"Oh my goddess is this really you Aubree" Dorothy mother whom I learnt her name is Betty from Dorothy, stood up from the mist of children to meet me. Her face beam with joy as she pulled me in her embrace and gave me a hug squeeze the life out of me, I looked at Dorothy using my eyes to beg her mother to release me. Looking at my situation her eyes cloud as if she wasn't present with me but as her eye cloud free seconds later Betty tight hug lessen as she gave me an apology look. What just happened I thought to my self but decide to let it slide.

"I'm sorry, I was just so excited to see you in person, Anna has been sending me picture and I'm so glad I can finally see you in person". She said to me still grinning from ear to ear. These is awkward, so mother have been sending pictures to people I don't know I thought to myself. I smiled sheeply not knowing how to reply her.

Betty actually asked me to read to the children, it wasn't actually that bad because I'm quite used to reading bedtime story to my niece.

After the story time Dorothy took me to an attached building that serve the purpose of a gym. It was well equipped, this will be my favorite place when I become familiar with the people here.

You thought I forget why I went on the tour, nah I didn't I saved the best for the last, the art gallery. Dorothy took me back to the house asked complained that I should have just taken a look at it when we were at the ground floor.

I refused going into the art gallery when she asked me if I wanted to, I told her I will visit it last. The gallery is on the ground floor.

If the art work on the hallway is magnificent the art work in this gallery is breath takibg. Images and sculpture of howling wolf, vases, bowl, figurines, picture of past alphas and luna, jewelries and what stands out in all of this artworks was crown station in the middle of the gallery. Reading the description of the crown written on a plate beside the crown. It reads. 'The crown of the fallen King, alpha king H.Cain from 1703_till date'.

Author note :Another update for you guys. Actually I will to have a date I would be uploading. I will be uploading on Sunday and on Wednesday. If I won't uploading I will let you guys know
