Chapter 28 – Yellow Chickens“Katie, you goin’ eat all them yellow chickens?” Blew asks. He’s poking through my Easter basket. He’s already eaten all my black jelly beans, the ears off my chocolate bunny, and three marshmallow eggs.
“Go home,” I say. “Go eat your own yellow chickens. You know they’re my favorite.” I pop another Peeps in my mouth. I love the hard sugar coating and the soft mushy inside. Daisy’s still in her new Easter clothes, preening around like a pink rooster in the barnyard.
“You can have all my yellow chickens,” she says to Blew. “But only if you give me all your pink jelly beans and promise to bring them to my house.”
