"You killed him",,Mike said astonished,,,,,

"I didnt kill him directly,,but he died because of me" She said,,,she felt the guilt hit her strongly and once again she succumbed to the unnerving restlessness within her,,some minutes ago she had,,felt justified and angry,,but now all that zeal seeped through her like liquid and she felt that empty once more

"I had intended to use him to lure him father out and have him confess to his crimes in a live session on social media,,but things went haywire and in a bid to stop him from escaping and revealing the truth,,my cousin Priscillia shot him from the back"

Unknown to her Martin had being able to take out a pocket knofe from his pants pocket,,,and was slowly cutti g through his rope,,,,,,she took out her phone to dial his dad number,,and in a flash,,he grabbed the phone from her,,,,"I'm sorry,,,but I cant let u keep on with this,,If my father is truly guilty then,,,,I promise to help you bring him to justice" She blinked at him,,unsure of how he was able to free his hands,,,,he made to hit her,,intending to weaken her,,,so he could escape the place,,,al.ost immediately she heard a gunshot,,she gasped

He leaned towards her,,his blood soaking his white shirt,,she could feel his breathe on her neck,,and for what seemed like he took his last breathe,,he fell down,,,,she looked up and saw her cousin Priscillia walking towards her,,,,,,with a shot gun in her hand

"What are u doing here" Betty asked,,,still in shock "You shot him,,how could you?" Priscillia ignored her question,,,,"You should be grateful to my mum,,who tapped your phone to know your location" Priscillia said nonchalantly,,Betty moved towards Martins to check if he was still breathing,,almost immediately some hefty guys came in,,carried her to a vehicle positioned outside and took her home

How could you want to pull up such an act alone,,without letting me know" He aunt said in fury,,,,"I told you i had a plan,,,why did u act on your own,,to mess everything else"

Betty sat down silently,,,her aunt had being in a fit of rage,,since she was brought to the house by the men hired by her aunt,,to take her home,,

Betty flared up,,,"And for the past seven years,,what exactly have you done to bring the people who killed my father to book??

" I have being gathering evidence against them, bidding the right time,,and you just spoilt everything" her aunt said flinging her hands in the air out of frustration!!

Betty Sighed,,"someone had to do something,,i mean i had to do something,,,i couldnt just sit idle and do nothing,,,I had to use Martins to,,,,," Betty stopped short,,she remembered Martins and the fact that he could be dead right now,,she felt the weight of guilt on her chest " How is Martins??,why did u have to Priscillia??,,,What was she doing with a Gun,,And why did she shoot him" she said flaring up in anger,,,,,

Her aunt snickered,,,,"You should be grateful that Priscillia was there on time,,,from what i heard he was trying to attack you,,when she fired he shot,,,and besides,,did u really want him to escape that place alive??" Her Aunt laughed out loud,,,,so loud that she could see the veins in her neck

"Darling you need to leave things like this,,for people like me with experience,,dont insist on doing things like this again,,or it could end up very badly for you,,,,Betty looked closely at her aunt,,,,what did she mean by her "leaving things for people like her with experience" has she being involved with shady things like this in the past??,,,,,she shook her head in confusion,,,her aunt was a gentle and loving person,,,there was no way,,she would involve herself in shady things,,i mean she was even mad at her for involving herself in things like this

"How is he??" She muttered

"Who??" Her aunt responded

" I mean Martins,,how is he??"

"He is dead,,very dead" her aunt said without any emotion,,,,Betty sank on the sofa,,"She killed him" she thought in pain,,,"they had not had any intimate relationship,,but he was kind to her,,and she killed him,,she was never going to recover from this mistake,,she would take it to her grave

Shortly after she moved out of her Aunt's house,,,got an apartment on her own,,finish her degree,,,,and started working,,,the desire to revenge her parents,,died alongside Martins,,,she hoped she would start afresh,,and live a new life ,,but the weight of the guilt from martins death,,,did not seem like it would ever leave her,,,,she struggled through each day,,to see and be a better version of herself,,,but the more she tried,,the more she felt like a failure,,,,she felt like a murderer who had ended the life of an innocent young man,,,,or so she thought

She stared at the brown envelope on the table

" I thought he was dead,,,,,but only got this information this morning,,,seems like he is very much alive and married to my cousin Priscillia" she said gesturing to the envelope on the table,,,,,,,,Mike went to the table picked it up,,,and saw some pictures,,,,"I hired a private investigator some months back,,,cause of the incident we witnessed thay day,,it has being occuring prior to that day" she continued,,,,"she dropped this envelope with me this morning,,,it seems my cousin priscillia,,has being the one giving me the message threat,,,I dont know why,,,but I'm going to find out about all that is happening and unravel any hidden secret"

"She shot him Mike,,,i saw him die,,or so i thought,,,,so how come are they married??,,,I'm going crazy thinking about all this,,I need answers,,,and answers i shall get"" she said defiantly

He took her to the sof,,sat her down and wrapped him arms around her,,,"You've being through a lot,,,,i want to be with you every step of the way,,,we will unravel this secret together,,but promise me,,,that u wont hide anything from me,,you will let me know about anything you're planning and make us decide together on it"" she nodded,,and could feel the tears running down her face,,,,"how did she get sooo lucky meeting such a good man,,,,she had thought he would abandon her and looked down on her,,but here he was giving her all the emotional support she needed,,and was willing to stand by her

She hugged him back,,and cried away all her pains,,,,,,,
