I sat on the floor of my mother's cottage, my tears still flowing, my heart aching with rejection and pain. The wolf nuzzled against me, but I pushed it away. I didn't want comfort, I didn't want anything but the pain and rejection that had consumed me.
But then, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see my grandmother standing over me, her kind eyes filled with compassion.
"My dear Alexa," she said softly. "I know how much you're hurting right now, but you don't have to go through this alone. You can stay with me for as long as you need, until you're ready to face your family and your pack again."
I shook my head, the tears still streaming down my face. "I don't know if I can face them, Grandma," I said. "Not after what happened with Chuck."
My grandmother sat down beside me, putting her arm around me. "I understand how you feel, Alexa," she said. "But you can't let one person's rejection define you. You're stronger than that, and you have a family and a pack who love and support you."
I looked at her, my heart heavy with doubt and uncertainty. "Do you really think they'll still accept me after what happened?" I asked.
My grandmother nodded. "Of course they will, my dear," she said. "Your family and your pack are a part of who you are, and they will always be there for you, no matter what."
I took a deep breath, feeling a glimmer of hope in my heart. Maybe my grandmother was right. Maybe I didn't have to go through this alone.
"Okay," I said softly. "I'll stay with you for a while. But I don't know if I'll ever be ready to face my family and my pack again."
My grandmother hugged me tightly. "That's okay, my dear," she said. "Take all the time you need. We'll be here for you, always."

A year had passed since Chuck had cruelly rejected me for his true mate, and I had been living with my grandmother ever since. During that time, I focused on myself and honed my wolf abilities. I had become faster, stronger, and more agile. I had also become more confident and assertive, no longer allowing others to manipulate me or dictate how I should look or behave.
One of the people who helped me the most during this time was my grandmother's neighbor, Chris. He was a tall and muscular man with a kind heart and a gentle spirit. He was also a skilled fighter and had taught me how to defend myself and use my wolf abilities in battle.
Today, Chris and I were in the forest, training. I was practicing my speed and agility, dodging and weaving through the trees as fast as I could. Chris was running beside me, encouraging me and giving me pointers on how to improve my technique.
"Good job, Alexa! Keep it up!" Chris shouted as I leapt over a fallen tree trunk.
I landed on the other side and turned to face him, panting heavily. "Thanks, Chris. I'm getting better, aren't I?"
"Absolutely," he replied, grinning. "You're a natural, Alexa. With a little more practice, you'll be unstoppable."
I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. For the first time in a long while, I felt like I was in control of my life and my destiny. And with Chris's help, I knew that I could achieve anything I set my mind to.

As I walked through the door of my grandmother's cottage, I felt the exhaustion from my training with Chris start to seep in. It had been a long day, but it felt good to be able to rely on my strength and abilities as a wolf.
My grandma was sitting in her rocking chair, her eyes fixed on the fire that crackled in the fireplace. She looked up as I entered, a soft smile on her lips. "How was your training, dear?" she asked.
It was good," I replied, trying to hide the tiredness in my voice. "Chris pushed me hard today, but I'm getting stronger."
"That's good to hear," she said, before turning her attention back to the fire.
I walked over to the couch and sat down, closing my eyes for a moment to rest. Just as I was about to doze off, my phone rang, jolting me awake. I picked it up, not recognizing the number.
"Alexa, it's me, your brother," said the voice on the other end. "I have some bad news. Mom...she's gone."
I felt a sharp pain in my chest as the words registered in my brain. My mother was dead. The shock was overwhelming, and I struggled to breathe as tears filled my eyes.
"What happened?" I managed to choke out.
"She died in battle," Ryan replied. "I'm sorry, Alexa. I know how close you were to her."
I couldn't speak. My mind was a jumble of emotions as I tried to process the news. My mother was gone, and I wasn't there to say goodbye.
"Alexa, are you still there?" my brother's voice broke through my thoughts.
"Yes," I whispered. "I'll come back for the funeral."
"Okay," he replied. "Take care of yourself."I couldn't speak.
"Take care of yourself.
I hung up the phone and sat there, numb. My grandmother came over and put a hand on my shoulder, offering me comfort in the only way she knew how.
I had lost my mother, the person who had brought me into this world and loved me unconditionally. The pain was unbearable, and I didn't know how I was going to get through it.
I took a deep breath as I stared out the window of my grandma's cottage. My mind was still reeling from the news of my mother's passing, but I knew what I had to do. I had to go back to the pack.
I turned around to face my grandma, who was sitting in her rocking chair by the fireplace. "I need to go back," I said, my voice trembling.
My grandma nodded in understanding. "I know, child," she said gently. "You need to be with your family."
I bit my lip, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to spill. "But what if they don't want me back?" I whispered. "What if they blame me for leaving?"
grandma stood up and walked over to me, placing a hand on my shoulder. "Don't think like that," she said firmly. "You are their daughter, and they love you. They will welcome you back with open arms."
I nodded, trying to believe her words. "But what about Chuck?" I asked, the memory of him still painful. "What if he's still there with his mate?"
My grandma's expression softened. "You cannot control what others do, my child," she said. "But you can control how you react to it. Remember what you have learned, and stay strong."
I took a deep breath, feeling a sense of determination welling up inside me. She was right. I couldn't control what had happened with Chuck, but I could control how I dealt with it. And I was stronger now, thanks to the training with Chris and my wolf abilities.
"I'll go pack my things," I said, a sense of purpose in my voice. "I'm ready to go back."
My grandma gave me a proud smile. "That's my girl," she said, patting my cheek gently. "I'll be here waiting for you when you get back."

As I returned to the packhouse after a long time, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Something felt off, and my instincts were screaming at me to be on high alert. As I approached the packhouse, I noticed that there were many new faces around. It was clear that the pack had grown in size since I had last been here.
But my initial excitement was soonreplaced by a feeling of dread as I saw the state of the packhouse. It looked shabby and torn, as if it had been through a war. The walls were cracked, and the roof seemed to be on the verge of collapsing. The flowers on the lawn were all withered and lifeless, and there was a sense of desolation that hung in the air.
As I surveyed the scene, my heart sank. What had happened to my pack? Had they been attacked? Were they still in danger? I knew I had to get to the bottom of this, to find out what had transpired while I was away. But for now, all I could do was take in the sight before me and brace myself for whatever was to come.
I stepped inside the packhouse, discovering that many of the furnishings had been destroyed and overturned. There were claw marks on the walls and the floors, and the air was thick with the smell of burnt wood and blood.
I felt a sense of dread rising in my chest as I realized that my pack had been attacked. I wondered who could have done this and why, and whether they were still out there, waiting to strike again.
