Chapter 9: A Frustrating Day

439 Words
Ava drove to her office feeling frustrated. She couldn't believe her father had set a date for the wedding without even asking her. She felt like she was losing control of her life. As she arrived at the office, she tried to shake off the feeling and focus on her work. She had a busy day ahead of her, with meetings and deadlines to meet. But she couldn't concentrate. Her mind kept wandering back to the wedding and her father's announcement. She felt like she was trapped in a nightmare. She didn't want to marry Ethan Brooks, but she didn't know how to escape the arrangement. Her father had made it clear that he expected her to go through with it, and she knew he wouldn't take no for an answer. Throughout the day, she found herself distracted, her mind racing with thoughts of the wedding and her future. She couldn't bear the thought of spending the rest of her life with someone she didn't love. After a long and stressful day, Ava finally packed up her things and headed home. As she drove, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was glad to be leaving the office behind and getting away from the stress of the day. But as she stopped at a red light, her relief was short-lived. A car bumped into hers from behind, making her jump in her seat. She felt a surge of anger and frustration. This was just what she needed, another thing to deal with. Out of anger, she got out of her car, ready to give the other driver a piece of her mind. But as she approached the other car, she was surprised to see Ethan Brooks getting out. "Ethan? What are you doing?" she asked, her anger turning to confusion. Ethan looked sheepish, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm so sorry, Ava. I wasn't paying attention. I hope you're okay." Ava was taken aback by the coincidence. What were the chances of Ethan being the one to bump into her car? She felt a sense of unease, like the universe was conspiring against her. As they exchanged information and waited for the police to arrive, Ava couldn't help but feel a sense of resentment towards Ethan. Why did he have to be the one to bump into her? Why did he have to be the one she was being forced to marry? The encounter left her feeling even more frustrated and trapped than before. She just wanted to be free from it all, free from the arrangement and free from the expectations of her family.
