Chapter 11: Family News
Ethan was just about to take his bath when his phone rang. He hesitated for a moment before answering it, seeing Jed Williams' face on the screen. His childhood friend was currently living in Japan, and they hadn't spoken in a while.
"Hey, man! How's it going?" Jed asked, his voice cheerful as always.
Ethan smiled, feeling a wave of nostalgia wash over him. "It's going, Jed. Just getting ready for bed. How about you? How's life in Japan?"
They chatted for a few minutes, catching up on each other's lives. Ethan filled Jed in on his upcoming wedding, and Jed shared stories about his adventures in Japan. They talked about their high school days, their favorite memories, and their plans for the future.
Ethan was grateful for the distraction. He had been feeling overwhelmed with wedding preparations and family expectations. Talking to Jed made him realize that there was a whole world beyond his current worries.
After a while, they said their goodbyes and promised to keep in touch. Ethan felt a sense of tiredness wash over him, but he was also grateful for the conversation. He quickly got ready for bed, his mind racing with thoughts of the wedding and his future with Ava.
The next morning, Ethan woke up feeling tired after a busy day at work. He had a meeting with a potential client, and he was hoping to land a new deal. He spent the morning preparing his presentation, and the afternoon negotiating the terms.
As he drove home, his mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the wedding preparations. He was worried about the guest list, the catering, and the music. He was also thinking about Ava, and how they would build a life together.
As he walked into the dining room for family dinner, he noticed his sister, Emily, looking particularly excited. She was beaming with a smile, and their parents were grinning from ear to ear.
"What's going on?" Ethan asked, taking his seat at the table.
Emily burst out with the news. "I'm pregnant! We're having a baby!"
The room erupted in cheers and congratulations. Ethan hugged his sister, feeling a sense of joy and excitement for her. He was going to be an uncle!
His dad was over the moon, asking questions and making plans for the future. Ethan was happy for his sister, but he couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Emily and her husband, Jack, had a loving relationship, and they were building a family together.
As they sat down to dinner, Ethan couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for his family. They were always there for each other, supporting and loving one another. He hoped that his marriage to Ava would bring him the same kind of happiness and family bonding.
The dinner conversation was lively, with everyone sharing stories and advice. Ethan listened intently, feeling a sense of belonging and connection. He was grateful for his family, and he knew that they would always be there for him.
As the evening drew to a close, Ethan excused himself and went to his room. He was feeling tired, but he was also feeling grateful. He knew that he had a lot to look forward to, and he was excited to see what the future held.
As he lay in bed, he couldn't help but think about Ava. He was marrying her in a few weeks, and he was still getting to know her. He hoped that their marriage would be a happy one, and that they would build a loving family together.
He drifted off to sleep, feeling a sense of hope and optimism. He knew that the future was uncertain, but he was ready to face it head-on.
