Chapter Five
After Sir Willoughby had left, Mrs Parker came looking for her. She took Alice into her parlour and asked her to bare her bottom so that she could inspect her. Mrs Parker wished to know what marks had been made upon her, so that she might judge how long before Alice could work again. It was always Mrs Parker’s contention that a man would not like a w***e who bore the marks upon her person of another man’s usage. Alice wondered if this was universally true, though she had no evidence either way. Mrs Parker said she thought that Alice would be ready for further service within three days.
