Bound to the Alpha — Chapter 8: The Execution Order
The palace doors did not open.
They split apart.
A violent surge of force ripped through the throne hall entrance, sending black stone fragments skidding across the floor. The sound echoed like a war drum announcing death.
Aria flinched instinctively.
Dante didn’t move.
The stranger shifted slightly beside him, suddenly alert.
And then they walked in.
Seven council members.
All dressed in layered ceremonial armor marked with Ravencrest sigils. Their presence alone bent the air—pressure so heavy Aria felt it pressing against her lungs.
At the center of them stood an older man.
His eyes locked directly onto Aria.
Cold.
Judging.
Final.
“Dante Ravencrest,” the man said, voice echoing through the hall. “You have violated ancient law.”
Dante’s expression did not change.
“I have done nothing unlawful.”
The man raised a scroll.
“This kingdom recognizes only one rule above all others.”
He paused.
Then dropped the words like a blade.
“Anything that threatens the Seal must be destroyed.”
The hall went silent.
Aria’s heart stopped.
The Seal.
Again.
Always the Seal.
She stepped back slightly.
“I’m not a threat,” she said quickly. “I don’t even know what I am!”
A few council members shifted uneasily—but the leader did not look at her.
As if she was already decided.
“Subject designation unknown,” he continued. “Energy classification: unstable. Anomaly level: catastrophic.”
Aria stared at them. “I’m a person!”
“Silence,” one of them snapped.
Dante finally moved.
Just one step forward.
But the entire hall reacted instantly.
Guards outside tightened.
The air itself felt like it bowed toward him.
“You will not touch her,” Dante said calmly.
The council leader didn’t blink.
“She is not yours to protect.”
A pause.
Then—
“She belongs to containment.”
Aria’s stomach twisted violently.
Containment.
Not life.
Not judgment.
Containment.
Or destruction.
The stranger muttered under his breath, “This is why I hate council days.”
Dante’s gaze sharpened.
“She is under Ravencrest protection.”
The council leader raised the scroll.
“That authority has been overridden.”
Aria froze.
Dante’s expression changed slightly.
Not fear.
Not shock.
Something colder.
Recognition.
“Overridden by who?” Dante asked.
The council leader smiled faintly.
“The Ancient Accord.”
A name that made the entire room shift.
Even Dante paused.
Aria felt it immediately.
Something old had just entered the conversation.
A deep sound echoed through the hall.
Not a voice.
Not footsteps.
Something heavier.
Like reality itself pressing inward.
The back of the hall darkened.
The air tore open slightly.
And someone stepped through.
Aria’s breath caught instantly.
A figure cloaked in dark ceremonial robes walked forward slowly, face partially hidden beneath a carved mask of bone and silver.
The moment they entered—
Even the council stepped back slightly.
Dante’s hand tightened at his side.
The stranger went silent.
Aria felt it in her bones.
This person was not ordinary.
Not Alpha.
Not council.
Something older.
The masked figure stopped.
And spoke.
But the voice was layered.
Two tones at once.
Male and female.
Young and ancient.
“You have awakened what was buried.”
Aria took a step back instinctively.
“I didn’t awaken anything!”
The figure tilted their head.
“You exist.”
A pause.
“And that is enough.”
Silence swallowed the hall.
The council leader lowered his scroll slightly. “High Warden… the anomaly must be—”
“Silence,” the masked figure said softly.
The word alone shut him up instantly.
They turned their attention fully to Aria.
And for the first time—
Aria felt seen.
Not judged.
Not feared.
Recognized.
“You are not the first,” the figure said.
Aria’s throat tightened. “Not the first what?”
A long pause.
Then—
“The last Seal Fragment.”
The words meant nothing.
And everything.
Dante’s expression darkened sharply.
“That is not possible,” he said.
The masked figure turned slightly toward him.
“You of all beings should know better than to deny truth, Ravencrest King.”
A beat.
Then—
“She was never meant to survive awakening.”
Aria’s knees weakened slightly.
“I don’t understand… what am I?”
The figure stepped closer.
And every instinct Aria had screamed at her to run.
But she couldn’t move.
Because the air itself refused to let her.
“You are what remains,” the figure said softly.
“Of the thing that once ended the world.”
The hall exploded into chaos.
“No—this is forbidden knowledge!”
“Contain her immediately!”
“She must be erased before resonance spreads!”
Guards moved.
Energy weapons charged.
Spells ignited in the air.
Aria stepped back, panic rising.
“No—wait—Dante—”
But Dante moved first.
He stepped in front of her.
Instantly.
The entire hall froze again.
Not physically.
But instinctively.
Every Alpha, every council member, every guard—
Paused.
Because Dante had released his aura.
And it was suffocating.
“You will not touch her,” he said again.
But this time—
His voice carried something different.
Not command.
Not authority.
Possession.
The masked figure watched him closely.
“You would defy the Accord?”
Dante didn’t hesitate.
“Yes.”
A ripple of shock passed through the council.
The masked figure studied him for a long moment.
Then—
“So be it.”
They raised a hand slightly.
And the air changed.
Aria felt it immediately.
Something inside her responded violently.
Her mark flared.
Pain shot through her entire body.
She gasped—
And reality cracked.
The throne hall distorted.
Walls bending.
Time stuttering.
The masked figure’s voice echoed:
“The Seal recognizes its fragment.”
Aria collapsed to her knees.
And for the first time—
She saw it.
A memory that wasn’t hers.
A burning sky.
A collapsing world.
And a voice saying:
“Seal it… before it returns.”
Aria screamed.
Everything stopped.
Silence returned.
Aria lay on the floor, shaking uncontrollably.
Dante knelt beside her instantly.
“Aria,” he said sharply. “Stay with me.”
Her vision blurred.
“I saw… I saw the end…”
Dante’s eyes darkened.
The masked figure looked down at her calmly.
“It is beginning,” they said.
Then added softly:
“And you are running out of time.”
A pause.
A final sentence that froze the entire hall:
“The Seal will either be reforged…”
“Or you will become what it was made to contain.”
The palace shook violently.
Far above them, the sky split with a blinding crack of light.
And somewhere deep inside Aria—
Something finally answered.
To Be Continued…
