“Of all the lies I’ve ever heard, my favorite was you and I.” “Olivia? Olivia, honey are you awake?” I hear someone whisper. The pain hits me as I groan lightly. My head hurts a lot and I’m freezing. I squint and see some figures hovering over me but it all seems so blurred. Someone’s holding my hand while a familiar voice keeps soothing me.  After sometime, I open my eyes and my vision seems to have come back. I am lying in a single bed with a heart monitor on the side. I move slightly and at my side I notice someone jumps. “Honey, are you okay?” Dad says worried and helps me sit up straight. Skylar sits in a chair dozing off while Matthew sits next to her. “What happened?” I mutter out as I try not to focus on the pain. “We found you unconscious in school. There were scratch marks on your arms. The police thinks maybe a coyote entered your school, and you encountered it. Anyway, the important things is that you are safe.” He smiles and I gently squeeze his hand. He leaves after sometime and I’m left all alone. Skylar and Matthew are still there but they’re asleep which means I have nothing to do. The doctor told me to rest but when I try to sleep the pain becomes worse. I hear a delicate knock on the door and someone steps in.  Colton walks in with a large bouquet filled with roses. He smiles and stands next to me. I can smell his cologne and it soothes me. “I am so glad you’re okay. When we found you lying there with all those cuts, I lost my mind.” Colton says calmly. I can tell there is something wrong with him. “Yeah, it’s okay.” I reassure him as he nods. He keeps the flowers near my bed and sits down next to me. “Olivia, say if I wasn’t who you thought I was?” Colton looks me in the eye and asks me. Why is he asking me this? “I don’t get what you’re trying to say.” I tell him as I shift uncomfortably. He stares at the wall contemplating about something. “What if, I was hiding a large secret from you? A secret that would change how you look at me forever.” He whispers quietly to me and looks down at his hands. Whatever he’s hiding from me, better not be bad news because I’m already being skeptical if we can last long because of the many problems that are going on. “Are you? Colton, are you telling me you are keeping a secret from me? Which is understandable because we don’t know each other!” I exclaim and he looks away with a glint of sadness in his eyes. “Yeah, we don’t know each other which means nothing will go wrong.” He whispers quietly to me as I tilt my head. Colton stands up and walks towards the door. “Get well soon.” He croaks out and walks out. I can bet I saw a tear rolling down his face. Instantly, I feel miserable for being that disrespectful to him. I spend the rest of the day in a blur mostly comprising X-rays and check-ups. Finally, I get discharged and dad drives me home. Many people called or texted me about the accident but I ignored them until I can get over the fact that Colton would have told me what was bothering him if I hadn’t been so damn mean to him. I roll over to lie on my side. The moonlight is pouring through the window and if I look outside, I’ll see that all the lights are out except the street lights. Occasionally, a truck or two passes by. Near midnight, I’m convinced that I won’t be able to fall asleep so I call Skylar and we meet up at one of the 24 hours, 7 Eleven. “It’s your fault. It’s totally your fault.” Skylar says apologetically and grabs some spicy chicken wings and nuggets. Her appetite never does not amaze me especially at 12:26 in  aisle 4. “Excuse me, I called you here so you would help me, but you seem to do the total opposite.” I tell her as she rolls her eyes.  “Don’t blame me!” She raises her hands as we step towards check out. The cashier looks young, in his early teens. He quickly scans everything and soon Skylar’s in the car, happily eating her f*****g chicken wings “Where do you want to go?” I ask her. She stops putting hot sauce on the side and stares at me like I’m mad. “No place in this annoying ass town will be opened right now. Except..” She points to 7 Eleven and I laugh. “No, there’s a concert happening tonight. It’s in a nearby town like 1 hour away. We can go there. Tomorrow’s Sunday anyway.” Skylar answers and throws the empty box of nuggets in the trash can. “I’m down. Do you know the address?” Under Skylar’s strict guidance of driving within speed limit, and the GPS, we drive towards the West Coast. In the middle of the drive, we come across a forest. The GPS didn’t guide us there but Skylar did, because she thought the GPS was very annoying. Across the forest, the town begins and we can go to the concert. The forest looks creepy at night but it becomes scarier when Skylar takes the courtesy of telling me how many clowns like Pennywise are spotted in here. In the middle of the forest, my car makes some noises. I dismiss is at minor problems because the major one is not to get hurt by a clown. After 5 minutes, my car suddenly stops working. Even when I check if nothing’s wrong and the fuel, it turns out that we have a flat tire. The important thing is, I don’t have a tire. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P.S.
