“I haven"t been sleeping,” Riley said, rubbing his eyes. His voice was thick and slow, and he moved with a deliberate slowness that concerned Alaric. “Bryan seemed worried.” He understood it now that he"d seen Riley. “And now I am.” For a long moment, Alaric wasn"t sure that Riley was going to even respond, then he drew in a shaking breath. “I"ve been… seeing.” He shook his head. “It isn"t good.” He hugged himself and Alaric risked reaching out to get a better understanding of his friend"s state. Riley"s heartbeat was sluggish, his breathing slow and deep. It was almost like he was in trance, despite the fact that he wasn"t. “Riley, how long has it been since you slept?” He shook his head. “Don"t remember. Every time I close my eyes…” He trailed off and looked away. “Can you show me?”
