Business as usual felt anything but usual. The window in his father"s office had been repaired, the hole in the wall plastered over and painted. You"d almost think nothing had ever happened. Except, Alaric knew better. His eyes kept straying to the place where the bullet had penetrated the wall. He sighed and dragged his eyes back to the numbers he was preparing for his father. The entire city was tense. It felt like everyone was walking on eggshells, afraid that one wrong word would set off a fire that wouldn"t end without bloodshed.
