Salem, Oregon wasn"t a whole lot different than some other places Mason had visited since leaving the solitude of his mountain. It wasn"t the sprawling metropolis of D.C., but as the industrial outskirts gave way to businesses, it reminded him of the many towns the bus had rolled into on his trip across the country.
