Ten Years Later

I beamed at the ultrasound picture in my hand, my spare hand splayed across my stomach. On the documents it said I was eight weeks pregnant, and I could already tell it was a boy. Not only would the elders be thrilled to have a male heir, Lukas would be to. We were finally growing our family. We had been married for five years right out of high school and through university. We had a bond that went beyond basic love. Folding the paper in my hand, I took a deep breath. Finally, everything was falling into place. In five days I would be crowned queen, and Lukas would be my king. I even had the docutments in place that stated he would be my equal, not just my consort. After all, that was what we were. I have been his Luna now for five long years. The Bloodmoon pack alone has grown in power, status, and territory since we got together. Of course, that was all do to my connections. I had taken a failing, struggling pack and rose it beyond anything Lukas could have imagined. Now we were about to be parents. I shot a text to my father that I had great news and would tell him over dinner, and walked to my waiting black SUV waiting outside. "Mr. Blackpaw's offices please." I said to my driver, who nodded and pulled out of the hospital parking lot. I looked down as my phone went off with my father's reply. He is very excited and ready to hear my news. Despite his protests against Lukas, he had accepted my choice in mate and was ready to accept him as king. He trusted my judgment. "We are here, Luna." The driver says and packs in front of the building. I smiled at him and dismissed him. Lukas will bring me home. Getting out of the car, I walked into the building like I have a million times. The two secretaries at the front waved me on, and I headed up to the top floor where my husband's office was. The minute I stepped on to the executive floor, the whole floor was quiet, too quiet. All eyes are on me as I walk through, making me feel a little self-conscious because why are they staring at me? The minute I round the corner that led me towards his office, Rory, his male secretary, tried to block me. "Mr. Blackpaw is in a very, very important meeting, Ms. Shaw. You need to come back." He was nervous, not only in just the shaking of his voice, but in his body. He was sweating, his heart was racing, and his body was tense. He looked like he was trying to hide something from me. I pushed him aside, and walked on, fighting him off. However, when I came around the corner, I was stopped speechless. Rory sighed in defeat and rubbed his hand over his head. He tried to say something, but my heart was shattering, my wolf was howling in pain, there was a sharp cramp in my stomach, and I was holding my breath. My husband of five years, the love of my life, Lukas Blackpaw was in the thralls of passion with my cousin Rose. I felt like I was going to fall apart right here. That I was going to shatter. "You're so much sexier than that middle-class b*tch of mine." Lukas' words drifted to me through the cracked door. Rose giggled, nipping at his lip. "She doesn't deserve such a prime alpha like you. You are so out of her league. I could make you an Alpha King if you left her." Rose nuzzled his neck and Lukas let out a growl. He grabbed her throat and his eyes flashed red. "Don't toy with me Rose." Rose's eyes were thrilled at his primal actions and leaned into his grip. "I'm not, drop the dead weight I will make you Alpha king. My father, Henry, has a plan to take the throne and then make my husband his successor. It could be you, if you got rid of her." Rose smirked, and looked up into his eyes. Lukas snarled in pleasure, and leaned down to kiss her neck his hands grouping her body and tearing clothes from her body. Rose's eyes caught mine now, and she smirked. "Yes, Lukas, like that. F*ck me like I'm one of your wh*res." "You're all mine...Rose." Lukas growled. I turned on my heels, tears threatening to break free of my eyes, and handed the papers to Rory. "Give these to him when he is done with her. Also, tell him to expect a call from my lawyer. I want a divorce." I walked away before Rory could say anything, calling a car service to take me to my hotel room. I had gotten one in the city to surprise him on my return after being gone for a week to get things settled. I shot a text to my dad about him being right, the affair all of it, but he never replied or I didn't see if he did. My car pulled up to the building and then brought me to my hotel. I stormed up to my room and started packing up again while booking my flight back home. This was the end of a ten year long relationship. A five year marriage. I had my heir now. I could rule in his place. I would rule in his place. A way around the rule. I handed in my keys and headed outside, the last thing I felt...a sudden impact on my left side and the last thing I saw was..darkness.
