Weekend Vacation

1844 Words
The morning after the set-up, when Lukas woke up, I tried not to vomit at the very touch of his lips on mine. He took a shower, leaving his phone unattended again. I guess he really thought I was so oblivious I wouldn't care if he left his phone unattended and going off. Rose had texted him a dozen times asking why he had left her in the middle of the night, where he was, what was happening. I shot a text to her saying he had some business to deal with but would take her on a weekend vacation and I texted her to meet Lukas at the mansion at three pm. Then I quickly deleted all the texts and used my phone to book a resort to get away high up in the mountains. Rose texted with excitement and I deleted that to. I would set up Lukas, make him be act on the spot when she showed up in my place. I would tell Lukas I wanted to go for a trip, then something would come up at noon so I couldn't go. Rose would show up thinking it was for her and of course Lukas would have to save face. Everyone thought he was with Rose, and even his inner circle didn't talk about how he had me and Rose. He would come home with some trinket to make it up to me, but I would be so engulfed with our engagement property I wouldn't notice. Meanwhile, while he was gone, I would be working on the inner circle. "Hey, I need to go handle some pack business." Lukas said coming out in the same suit as last night. He kissed my head and I forced a warm smile. "Have one of the men bring you home." "I want to go on a weekend getaway tonight. I already booked it and everything." I held up my phone showing him everything already in order. He paused and looked at the phone. A smile pulled at the corner of his lips and I could see he was about to refuse. "Just you, me and a mountain get away. Did you not have fun last night?" My eyes fluttered and I could see his eyes flare with excitement. "What time do we leave?" He asked, his voice with a cruel, heated tint. I forced back my repulsion, and stood up placing both hands on his chest. "Three. I am going to take a shower. I will see you at three my love." I walked away, leaving him hot and bothered. He cleared his throat, took his phone which had only one message from Rose, 'I can't wait to see you my love' on the screen, and left the room. I cleaned up and dressed in the black pantsuit I had stashed. I fixed my hair, used what little make up I had to clean myself up, and called James to arrange me a ride. Back at the mansion, I got started on planning the party of the century. The best party this pack had ever seen. I already had everything set up for six weeks, not eight, but as far as Lukas knew, we had eight weeks to plan. At exactly noon, James called with a problem only the Luna could solve. As his mother was still indisposed, I stepped in as the future Luna. I left and wouldn't be back until late. I sent a text to Lukas at two fifty that I wouldn't make it from a café where I was sipping tea on my pretend errand. It wasn't long before I got a text from James, who I had sent to spy on them, with a full video of the incident. The video started with Rose running into his arms, and a shocked Lukas barely catching her. "Lukas!" Rose kissed him, taking him a whole minute to kiss her back with shock etched on every inch of his face. "Rose? What are you doing here?" Lukas put her down and she twisted up her face in confusion. "Our weekend? Are we not going on get away?" Rose looked at his packed bags, and he looked down to see her already packed bags beside her. Realization ran across his face. She must have found out about my plans and decided to intervene. A cruel smile ran up his lips. He couldn't have me, fine, he would take Rose instead and that would really solidify the pregnancy she was already in. It wasn't how mate cycles worked. You had one night, one heat, where you got pregnant. She was already pregnant but I needed to make sure Lukas thought it too. I needed him to be conflicted when he finds out we were both carrying his pup. I already had the potion from the witch who would help me with a fake pregnancy hormone. I also needed him out of my way for a weekend. "Of course! It's been a long day, I am ready." Lukas took her hand and they headed out of the mansion into the waiting car. She smiled at him, curled around his arm like she might lose him if she let go. The video cut when they drove off, and I put my phone down. Everything was going according to plan. Standing up with some money on the table, I slid on my glasses, and walked toward the waiting car. I drove myself back to the mansion arriving a good thirty minutes after they were gone, the butler's sour face greeted me. I only patted him on his arm and walked up to my room. James was waiting by my door. "So what is our next step?" James asked, following me into my room. I tossed my suit jacket onto the bed and sat down at the vanity, starting to put my make-up on for the night. "A party, for the pack. For us to network. I need them to choose you when the time comes. Alpha is gone, and since they are already doubting him with your little rumors, this will be a perfect way for us to get the inner circle to see a united front in a very....different way." I put down my make-up brush and turned to look at him. "Are you really ready to do this, James?" "I love my cousin, Amarissa, I won't deny that, but he has ruined this pack all for Rose. He is giving up a great Luna, possibly the greatest Luna he could possess, for a woman who is less than him. Less than me. I can sense something is off, even wtih a white wolf..." "She's not a white wolf." I cut him off, and turned back to the make-up table in front of me. He went pale, knitted with confusion. I quickly continued while applying my eyeliner perfectly. "Rose's mother was a prostitute. In order to save face, Henry, her father, married the woman and claimed the pup legitimately. He then made Rose's mother disappear, but in doing so, he cursed himself. He could not have any more children, as Rose's mother was his fated mate. When you kill your fated mate, you become sterile in the royal linage. So he was stuck with Rose as an heir, a mixed grey, black-furred wolf. Her wolf is weak from constantly taking a potion to make her white, not grey—black. The more she takes it, the weaker she gets because her true wolf is being suppressed for a lie." "So even that is a lie." Jame spoke, not as a question, but as a truth. He stood up from my bed where he had been sitting and cleared his throat. "I will go get dressed and inform the servants to get things ready. Take your time. We have a long night a head of us." "See you soon, James." I smiled at him through the mirror and watched him slip out. When he was gone, my maids came in, helping me dress and do my hair for the party. Tonight the doors were open to all members of the pack, low and high-born. A true feeling of union. I went lavish, a silver gown with onyx adornments. Floor length is only saved by the five-inch heels. When I was done, the house was already filled with sound people. I walked out onto the floor and turned heads. James and I shared a look, and the real party began with me socializing and James, slowly putting rumors into the minds of the people. Over all, the night was a hit, the lower and upper wolves all mingling and interacting. Tonight there were no omegas, no warriors, or elders. It was just wolves all together. Exactly what I wanted for my people in the long run: equality. "So, how did the night go for you?" James came up to me when the rest of the people had gone, and the people were cleaning up the house. I folded my arms over my chest, loosely holding onto the glass of whiskey I was holding onto. "I think I should be asking you that, James," I replied, lifting the glass to my lips to sip. He laughed softly and stopped at my side watching the last of the cars drive off into the night. "Well, I think we have a few well-placed rumors going around, not all of them untrue," James responded, and I turned to him, fully handing the whiskey glass to a passing server. "Good. I look forward to what comes of them. Have a good night, James, we still have a lot to do." I put a hand on his shoulder before walking inside and up to my room. Well, now it's time for some work on my life after this mess. I placed a call to the only elder I could remember trusting. "My queen." Elder Victor Longhorn answered on the second ring, genuine respect in his voice. I put him on speaker, and began to get undressed. "What news do you bring to me?" I didn't have time for formalities right now. I needed to know how many elders I am replacing. "Well, several of them have agreed to kneel but are secretly plotting against you. Embrose is actively acting against you. Only myself, Joneson and Elederson have agreed to kneel in true respect. I fear what will come from your crowning." He sounded concerned but I knew I would be facing a full clean out of my council. "I will have the approved list of replacements for you tomorrow. As long Joneson and Elederson agree to kneel in true genuine respect, you three are safe. I will make an announcement of replacements when I am fully crowned. Thank you Victor. I appreciate your loyalty to the crown." I hung up before he could respond and finished getting dressed for night. That night I slept, and I thought about all those who would suffer. About my vengeance. It would end. They would all end.
