KATERINE POV. “Close the door behind you, Ms. Turner.” he said, his voice flat, his gaze barely acknowledging me. “And if my fiancee comes around, let her in.” It took me a moment for his words to sink in, and when they did, the word ‘fiancee’ hit me hard like a slap and my hands itched to return the favor. Although his face didn't tilt like he was playing around with me, I knew he purposely said it to rub salt in my wound. Why did he have to say that word?
