I couldn't take it anymore.
My heart pounded in my chest as I returned to my desk, trying to steady myself. My phone beeped and a message from Williams popped up.
‘What did you say I came to pick you up from work?’ it read. I had wanted to type ‘never mind’ then a thought crossed my mind and I typed instead.
“How about we go on that dinner date tonight?
“Really?” His reply came in almost immediately and I typed a ‘yes’ before putting the phone away.
