The next morning came too fast, Vera was already in the penthouse, dressed like she was walking a runway—extravagant, over-the-top, and clearly aiming to impress.
But I couldn’t care less. My mind was elsewhere, far from the charade in front of me.
Lilian, of course, was all smiles as she hugged Vera tightly. “Oh, Vera, I’m going to miss you so much!”
