I was lounging on the couch, chatting away with Lucy and Angela on a video call when Adrian texted me out of the blue.
“Get ready for tonight,” his message said. No details. Just that.
I furrowed my brow, trying not to look too curious on the call.
I had a smile on my face, my heart lighter than it had been in a long time.
It had been two weeks since I and Adrian had started secretly seeing each other, and I felt…different. Happier.
It was thrilling in a way, but I knew the secrecy couldn’t last forever. But as they say; enjoy it, while it lasts.
“Who’s texting you?” Angela’s sharp voice cut through my thoughts. “You look too interested for it to be your mom.”
I glanced at the screen, biting back a smile. “It’s just Adrian. He’s planning something, I think.”
