Day 1

The woods were eerily silent. Towering trees loomed overhead, their branches intertwining to form a natural canopy that barely let in the moonlight. Shadows danced on the forest floor, and the faint rustle of leaves sent shivers down Alina’s spine. She wrapped her arms around herself, glancing at her best friend, Nora, whose wide, curious eyes darted between the trees. “We need to keep moving,” Alina said, her voice a whisper that seemed too loud in the oppressive silence. Nora nodded, brushing a strand of auburn hair from her face. “I know, but where are we even going? One second we were in Professor Hargrove’s class, and now…” She trailed off, biting her lip. “We’re lost,” Darren finished, emerging from behind them with Ethan. Darren’s short, dark brown hair was tousled, and his sharp features were taut with tension. His usual confident stride had been replaced with a cautious shuffle. “Obviously,” Ethan muttered, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. His wavy, dirty-blond hair glinted faintly in the dim light. Despite his calm demeanor, Alina could see the unease in his hazel eyes. “What’s the plan, then? Wander aimlessly until something finds us?” “Don’t jinx it,” Alina snapped, crossing her arms. Darren chuckled dryly. “Relax, Alina. We’ve handled worse…right?” She glared at him. “Worse than being in the middle of nowhere with no clue how we got here? Sure.” The banter provided a small relief from the tension, but reality quickly set in. Their stomachs growled, and exhaustion weighed heavily on them. “We need food,” Darren announced, his tone more serious now. “Let’s split up. Alina, you and Nora head that way.” He pointed toward a faint clearing. “Ethan and I will go this way. We’ll meet back here in an hour.” Alina frowned. “Splitting up sounds like a terrible idea.” “It’s the only one we’ve got,” Ethan said with a sigh. Reluctantly, Alina agreed, and the group parted ways. The Capture Alina and Nora hadn’t gone far when the air seemed to grow colder. A chilling breeze whispered through the trees, carrying with it a faint, metallic scent that set their nerves on edge. “Do you smell that?” Nora asked, her voice trembling. Alina nodded, clutching Nora’s arm. “Stay close.” Before they could take another step, two figures emerged from the shadows. They were strikingly beautiful, with porcelain skin that seemed to glow under the faint moonlight. Their identical features left no doubt—they were twins. The first had jet-black hair cascading down her back, her deep violet eyes glinting with mischief. She wore a fitted black gown that hugged her lithe figure, her lips curling into a dangerous smile. The second twin had silvery-white hair, styled in an intricate braid, and piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through them. Her expression was colder, more calculating. “Humans,” the dark-haired twin purred, her voice smooth as silk. “What a delightful surprise.” Alina and Nora froze, unable to move as the twins closed the distance. “Who are you?” Alina managed to ask, though her voice was barely audible. The silver-haired twin smirked. “We are Liora and Lyra, princesses of the Vampire Kingdom.” “But isn't that question unnecessary to the situation you both are in right now? You might be dead before you know it” the dark- haired twin mischievously said. “Oh Liora, don't be a scarecrow, " Lyra growled at her twin sister. Before Alina or Nora could react to fear that was evident on their faces, Liora snapped her fingers, and darkness enveloped them. *** Darren and Ethan Meanwhile, Darren and Ethan were wandering deeper into the woods when they heard the distinct sound of footsteps behind them. “Do you hear that?” Darren whispered, his hand instinctively reaching for the pocket knife he always carried. Ethan nodded, his grip tightening on a branch he had picked up. Before they could act, figures emerged from the darkness. Unlike the elegant twins, these vampires were feral-looking, their eyes glowing red and their fangs bared. Their clothes were close to tattered, and their movements were predatory. “You’re coming with us,” one of them growled, his voice guttural. “Where? Ethan asked, frightened. “Wherever you found yourself, the deary looking one growled. As Ethan and Darren tried to escape, two of the vampires moved swiftly before them grabbing their arms. “Trying to escape, ? Another smirked “Well, you failed. Take them! Darren and Ethan fought back, but they were outmatched. The vampires moved with inhuman speed, disarming them effortlessly. They were dragged through the woods to a grand, ominous castle. Inside, they were brought before a man who radiated power. King Kali had dark, shoulder-length hair, a lean build, and icy blue eyes that seemed devoid of mercy. Beside him stood Queen Sofia, her raven-black hair falling in waves around her strikingly sharp features. He graciously stood from his throne and made his way towards the duo, his cloak following suit as he moved. He took a stop abruptly a few inches to them and hissed. “ You're youngsters, it's quite intriguing to have you minions in my kingdom”. “ You were found wandering I heard” he asked in return for an answer but he got none. “Well, he continued moving towards a female servant standing by the corridor, fiddled her fingers and moved slowly to her neck making sure the view was clear enough for Ethan and Darren to see. He slightly opened his mouth showing its bare fangs before burying it into the lady's neck. He took a few drops and left her to bleed. He then moved slowly, his eyes still red and fangs stained in blood dripping down to his jawline. He bent slowly before Darren and Ethan and smirked, fear evident on their faces - “So I presume you'd love to use your voices now or you might be the next feast” he threatened slightly, cleaning the dripping blood with his thumb before licking it again. “We-we lo-ost our way in the woods, " Darren said trembling. Kali seems more intimidating just as his looks. “Hmmm, he growled. “I love the stubborn one,” he said, pointing at Ethan. He took a final look at them before making his way back to his throne. “These humans will be useful,” King Kali said with a smirk. “Take them to the dungeon. They’ll be assigned duties in the morning.” *** The Veenise Kingdom Alina and Nora woke up in a lavish chamber filled with other female humans. The walls were lined with golden sconces, and the air was heavy with the scent of roses. “Where are we?” Nora whispered, her eyes wide as she took in the ornate room. Before Alina could answer, a woman approached them. She was petite, with auburn hair and a kind smile. “It's called The Veenise Kingdom,” she said softly. “You’ve been brought here to serve.” “Serve?” Alina repeated, her voice laced with disbelief. The woman nodded. “We’re all servants here. Most of us serve the royal family. Be careful around them, especially Princess Liora. She…has a reputation.” Before Alina could ask more, the doors to the chamber opened, and the royal family entered. Leading them was Crown Prince Aric, a tall, broad-shouldered man with jet-black hair and piercing green eyes. His chiseled jaw and stern expression gave him an intimidating presence, though there was a flicker of warmth in his gaze as he glanced around. With him were the twins, Liora and Lyra. Behind them was Cassian, the youngest prince, with messy blond hair and bright blue eyes. His youthful face and easy smile set him apart from his siblings. The family stopped in front of the servants, and Cassian was the first to speak. “Where are the new intakes?” he asked, his voice light but curious. Liora gestured toward Alina and Nora. Prince Aric’s gaze lingered on Alina, his expression unreadable. Without a word, he turned and continued walking, the family resuming their journey down the hall. *** Back in the chamber, the servants whispered among themselves. One of them, a tall, thin woman with scars on her neck, leaned closer to Alina and Nora. “Be careful around Princess Liora,” she warned. “ Why, they asked in Unison. “She has a secret room where she…feeds.” she whispered fear evident on her face. “Feeds?” Nora asked, her voice shaking. “Yes, she does it for fun. Especially when she's in an awkward mood. Don't anger her or you might end up like me. She replied showing off more marks on her thighs and arm. “But vampires are to feed on human blood, " I read in books. Alina asked in a confused manner. “ But having a secret room like it's forbidden sounds strange and new” she said again. The woman nodded grimly. “The king has forbidden feeding on humans except during the Blood Moon, but Liora doesn’t follow the rules. She compels her servants to forget, but the effects wear off, and they remember everything.” Alina shuddered, glancing at the faint scars on the woman’s neck. Stared back at Nora and swallowed hard. “ Doesn't she get any reprimands for breaking the rules? Nora chipped in “She does, she replied. There was a time and the last event for now…. hopefully, she drained a male guard due to her repulsiveness but since each vampire has a unique scent it was traced back to her and she was deprived of blood for a month. “ So what does she feeds on” Alina asked “ Blueberries, she replied. *** Fangy kingdom In the Fangy Kingdom, Darren and Ethan sat in the cold, damp dungeon, their wrists bound with silver chains. “This is insane,” Darren muttered, wincing as the chains burned his skin. Ethan nodded, his face pale. “We need to find a way out of here.” “How? Darren asked. --- Back in the Veenise Kingdom, Alina and Nora huddled together in their chamber, their thoughts consumed by worry for Darren and Ethan. “Do you think they’re okay?” Nora asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Alina stared out the small window, her heart heavy. “I don’t know,” she admitted, her voice filled with uncertainty.
