Allies in Dark Places
Kinza was slowly woken by the gentle rumbling of the truck and knew where she was.
She hated him.
She had been so close to going back home, back to her life, and here he was, ripping her back out again. There were those few, blissfully cozy hours the night before where she thought he wouldn’t find her and she could go home. How had she been so stupid?
Opening her eyes, she sat up in the passenger seat… only to realize her arms were zip-tied to the door on one side and the center console on the other.
“Just a precaution. Seeing as you are prone to violent outbursts, I wanted to be sure you wouldn’t make us crash,” Zaid said it so coldly that for a moment, Kinza was reminded of Max and how he always wanted her to be silent.
