Bonds Betrayed
SEVEN YEARS EARLIER
Zaid walked down the brightly lit streets, pulling his hood up to fight the glare of the neon signs and kept his target in view.
He had been following the man, or ubir really, for almost half a mile through downtown Osaka. Hundreds of people walked in streams around him, but he kept his eye on the hooded man a few meters up. He had been given his first assignment, and while both nervous and excited, it was proving to be much easier than expected.
