Unfathomable Realities
SEVEN YEARS EARLIER
Zaid made his way down the spiral staircase that led deep into the earth. Like most of Rhapta, it was made of limestone, but the way was dark. He carried a torch with him to light the way, he had learned the first time that one could easily fall down a flight of stairs in the dark, and no one would come to help you.
He had come this way a hundred times before in training but never had he descended into the cells of the city to see one of his own captives. Especially not his brother.
