Chapter 8 The last stage of the walk to Tiadun Keep led through farmland and small villages made up of thatched houses in moderate repair, their gardens roughly turned under in preparation for the spring planting. Eppie kept her head down, trudging along under the light gray skies. The keep stood on a small hill beside a broad, open bay, with the small town spilling down the slopes around it. There were slate- and thatch-roofed houses, a water mill, and the chimney of a smithy. All in all, it was probably about the size of one of Anamat’s market neighborhoods.
