What did you say? David asked as his face lit up and came closer because he didn't really hear what she said and also what are you doing here, David asked again.

Sorry I didn't mean to eavesdrop, I just came to collect my cell phone which I forgot, she replied and ran upstairs and took the phone. Okay here it is as she showed it to David and Mr Sam, I'm sorry she pleaded as she bowed her head and left immediately.

What was she doing here, David questioned Mr Sam. Oh you mean the lady? She's the new cook I told you about, Mr Sam stuttered. Have you guys met before?? Mr Sam asked.

She's the lady that claimed I almost hit her with her son, he said as he walked towards the door outside. Make sure she keeps her mouth shut. He gushed as he opened the door and left.

At her best friend's house

The door was pushed open as Mia walked in. Finally, you're home, Zara mumbled drying her hair. Where's Bubu? Mia asked.

He is already asleep, So how did it go? Did you get the job? Zara asked.

Yes! Mia exclaimed as her face bloomed with smiles. Oh my…. Come here babe ... .Zara stretched her hands for a hug. Congratulations, she hugged Mia.

At Alex house

Good morning babe, Alex placed his hand around the bed to feel Olivia, but he didn't feel her presence so he opened his eyes and couldn't find her on the bed.

He went downstairs and saw her watching some pictures on her phone but couldn't get a view of the picture. Babe you're up already? He affirmed with a sleepy voice.

Olivia turned a little bit frightened. Good morning babe she said. What's wrong with you? You've been acting a bit off after last night. Are you okay? He asked as he came close to her and started kissing her.

Olivia stopped him after some seconds, I'm fine she gasped as she left.

At the restaurant

Mia was slicing onions and whisking the egg before the male chief cook walked up to her.

You made the Taco soup right? He asked.

Yeah, Sorry I'm a bit slow, I…. Mia was still talking before the chief cook interrupted. Wow, it's so delicious. Finally we got a cook who knows how to prepare Taco soup, the chief cook said as he patted her on her shoulders and left.

Why isn't he picking my calls, Olivia said, flinging the phone on the sofa in her dressing room.

Mia was really tired and about to leave the restaurant because she was done for the day. Her phone beeped as she brought out her phone to check, it was a message from the hospital.

Which read “Your results are ready, please come to the hospital now to collect it”

At the hospital

Good evening Ma'am, Mia greeted the Doctor. You're welcome, please come inside and have a seat Dr Felix said pointing at the chair opposite him.

You're Mrs Mia Faroki right? He asked as he was opening the file in front of him. Yes sir, Mia replied.

From the result analysis, we diagnosed a growing tumor at the left side of your brain. The doctor articulated, pointing at the analysis on the screen.

Mia could hear her heart beating so fast that she thought it might cause her a heart attack that instant as tears covered her eyes. “Doctor, will I die?” she asked. That was the only question that came through her mind that instant.

You still have a high chance of living, Dr Felix assured only if you commence with the surgery to remove it immediately.

Okay Doctor, But what caused the outgrowth of the tumor, she asked with curiosity.

Tumors are mostly caused by a change in the DNA cells. They are very deadly the moment it starts to spread. It can lead to cancer which is incurable. The doctor explained, handing the results over to her.

Tears rolled down Mia's eye as she walked out of the hospital… She wondered what would happen to her poor Liam if anything happened to her. As all these thoughts ran through her mind.

A woman who was unconscious, covered in a hospital blue gown, surrounded by nurses as they were pushing her on the emergency bed. “Mommy!!!!” The woman's daughter wailed as she sat on the floor weeping helplessly.

Mia who has been standing all these while observing what was happening and imagining her Liam in such a condition broke down in tears.

No, I can't let this happen to my son, I have to fight. She concluded by cleaning up her tears as she walked out of the hospital like a lion.

At Mr Alfred’s Mansion

Have you met with the lawyer so you can place Alex's name for your will? Mrs Cathy asked as she was stirring the coffee for her husband whose eyes were fixed on the newspaper he was reading.

Are you planning my death already? Mr Alfred scoffed, flipping the newspaper to the other page.

No honey, I was just asking to know….. Mrs Cathy was still talking before Mr Alfred interrupted. I'm heading somewhere now, He stated as he stood up arranging his tie and leaving with his bodyguards.

* The following morning at the restaurant *

I thought you're on off duty today, why did you come to the restaurant, Mr Sam asked Mia who stood looking around. Sorry, I came to see Mr David, is he around? She asked, looking around.

Okay follow me, Mr Sam instructed. He brought Mia to David's upper room at the top of the restaurant.

David's restaurant is one of the biggest restaurants in New York city.

The door slid open as Mia walked in, how may I help you he said with his chair facing backwards.

“I'm ready to sign the contract” Mia’s voice cracked with a clenched fist. David reversed his office chair.
