CHAPTER 1

My name is Qhakaza Zulu. A 25 year old lawyer working at her own firm. It was what my father gave to me as a gift after graduating. It was his law firm and law runs in the family since my two older brothers are also lawyers. My life has always been fruitful and I was short if one thing;a baby.Since I'm a very busy lady I consulted a doctor to start the process of artificial insemination. It was a success and afew months ago I gave birth to the most adorable mushroom. My baby girl Zenkosi. She only survived a week after her birth eith her breathing on her own but later she struggled to breath in her own. The doctors said she had underdeveloped lungs.

The past few months have been a drag. I lost weight I asked my brother to manage my firm while I'm away from work. I just couldn't stop thinking about what the doctor said yesterday that we must switch of the machines. Why? Me my parents and my brothers apent the whole day besides her bed looking at her quietly."She is young to go through all this rather take me god than her"

My thoughts were disturbed by my mom .

Mom:Nana are you okay?

Me:Uhm.. yeah just(throat clearing)Can I take a drive for some air.

Dad :Okay baby, Zibusiso(my older brother)Go with her

Me:Dad it's fine I'll manage

Zibusiso:Are you sure buddy?

Me:Yes I'm sure.

Mnqobi:Be safe sis

I nodded while walking out looking like a zombie.I took my car and just drove, not knowing where but I just was. I was so causght up in my own thoughts that my car collided with the other one. I just sat there . The driver of the car got out shouting at me.

Him:Are you mad?!

Me:(crying) I'm so sorry

Him:No it's fine step out of the car I'll get you someone to take you home.

Me:Please allow me to fix your car it's the least I could do.

I gave him my business card.

Me:Please reach out, from there we'll see what we can do. I'm sorry

Him:No it's fine I'll fix my own car just go home and rest you don't seem okay.

Me:I insist

Him:No, just go home. I'll call someone just now wait here.

He was on a phone call I sighed as he was approaching my destination.

Him:The car will be here in a minute, don't you want coffee?

Me:No

Him:I don't know what I was thinking asking you for a permission. Step out.

He opened the door himself. Held my hand like a baby and we walked down the road there was a huge beautiful resturant.

Worker:Bozza, what can I get you

Him: Coffee and muffins

Worker:Coming up bozza! Ekse Zee coffee for boss and his lady.

Then the workers wanted to see this lady. They gathered around the table.

Worker2:Ah bozza nto esharp so?

Him:Hello to you too and it's a woman not a thing now go back to woek that I pay you to do.

They laughed and walked away I just didn't understand why I was here all I needed was a rest.He looked at me carefully. More like studying my face.

Him:Are you okay?

I nodded

Him:Please say it out loud I don't understand your nodding.

Me:I.. uhm okay

Him:You look troubled.Talk to me.

Me:No.

Him:Mmh okay. I'm Mmeliwothando Zenkosi Buthelezi.

Me: I'm Qhakaza Zulu.

Him:Mtwana.

My coffee came and I ate. The car came and took me home.

I took a long shower I then called my mom to ask about Zenkosi.She was still the same.

I took pain killers and slipped into my bed. I received a call from an unkown caller.

Hello?

Hey are you home safe? it's him.

Yes I'm safe.

Okay goodnight.

You too.

He sighed before hanging up.

The moment my face met the pillow I dozed off.

MMELI'S POV

I'm mmeli Buthelezi. The son of isilo lakwa Zulu.Also a sangoma that doesn't use unuthi but waterand a gang leader. I'm not the person that talkes talks too much. I say less than 29 words a day. I have 7 brothers and 2 sisters. My parent are still very much alive. A few months ago I've been having weird dreams.When I consult my underground gang I can't seem to find answers.

I got out of my hut. I went to the main house. I found my mom and my elder brother Sbusiso.

Mom: It's 4 now call your brothers and call out so we can pray

I went out . I called my brothers we prayed and parted ways.

My family is a Nazareth family and we keep the traditions.Some people say it's hard but it's not when you know you are doing the right thing.Also my family is a royal family.

Mom:Son you've been so quiet are you okay my baby?

Me:Yes mom.

Mom:I gave birth to you,yes you do not talk oftenly but you do speak.You will fell me when you are ready to talk okay?

Me:Yes mom. I'd like to be excused mother.

Mom:Okay my son.

I kissed her cheek then went out.

I went to my small house outside in the yard.I took off my shoes and everything. I went to take a shower then I came back. Sat on my bed.I browsed through my phone and there she is.She had updated her status holding her baby in her arms.The way she was so beautiful.Motherhood suits her I won't lie.I told myself that I'd never want to fall in love with a lady that already has a baby but with her it feels so right.I decided to call her.

Me: Evening.

"Good evening Mmeli Buthelezi how are you?"

I'm okay,how was the rest of your day?

"It was okay I went to see my baby today she is now brearhing on her own that's a miracle"

I'll pray for her don't worry By the way motherhood looks good on you.

"You reckon?'

Yes MaZulu.

She sighs.

" I wish I could say the same hey"

She will be okay.

" Why are you so sure?"

She hung up then I wore my praying attire then I headed to my roundavel to pray.

I then burn incense.

I stayed there for a while then I slept there.I fell into a deep sleep then I had a dream talkng to my ancestral guard.

He vanished and that was the end of the dream I woke up coughing.What does that mean I have a child?How though?This has to be a mistake,but the ancestors are never wrong.

I went to look for my brother.I found him in his room.

Sbu:Mraka baba

Ne:Sbu I have a child

Sbu:Yes,you do.

Me:So you knew all along?

Sbu:Yes but everything has it's own time and I wouldn't interfere in your business with the ancestors

Me:But how?

Sbu: Do you remember when I took you for sperm donation?

Me:Yes?

Sbu:I had asked for the doctor to keep your sperm refrigerated alone and guve it to a lady that will come and that's her.

Me:So all along this is my baby and I didn't know

Sbu:Now you know.Take care of her and love her cause you you've fallen do deep in love that you can't even clumb up.

Me:(laughing)Stop it man

Sbu:You are a dad now Mnumzane.

He laughed.I shook my head while heading out with a smile on my face but how fo I break the news to her?This is s a whole botched up situations.

I went inside my room. I got inside the covres then I dialed Qhakazas number.

"Buthelezi.."

MaZulu how is the little one now

"What about me(imitating to cry)

I laughed silently

" I'm joking she is okay, my baby is now out of the machines, I don't know what kind of a miracle is this but her lungs are now fully developed.

Aww ngyayibonga inkosi that's good.

"My whole family and relatives are very happy and tomorrow she is coming out of the hospital!!"

I'm glad to hear that look can we meet after tomorrow. You and the baby?

"I'm not to sure why?"

I quickly hung up yoh this is a disaster.

So today at night me and my brothers:Sbu, Zwelibanzi, Lungelo, Lwazilunzulu, Sduduzo, Mdumiseni are going to a money heist. I called Zibusiso, Mnqobi and Siyabonga.

Me:Zibusiso is everything set that side?

Me:Yes, has fixy tempered with the cameras?

Mnqobi:Yes, I'm done the truck is approaching that side careful there are police roaming around it will go straight inside the tunnel all y'all have to do is come in the front cause if y'all follow the police are going to be aware. So careful.

Zweli:We need to move gents.

We got inside the combi. We drove. Zweli bombed the car. The way we are so fast at this. We put the money inside the bags then drove to our warehouse. We don't drink but the three brothers do drink. They popped their champagne and we celebrated by chanting. We split the money then drove home. We got home and we took a bath then slept.

QHAKAZA'S POV

My brothers went to fetch my baby. The relatives were so happy shame. When she got home my younger cousin ran to my brother she took Zenkosi.

Mom:Aww Thandiswa let the mother hold her baby first.

Thah:She held her first after we she gave birth to her so now? The whole family laughed hayi.Babomdala Muzi burnt the incense and thanked the ancestors.

Then food was served. Me and my two cousins Noluthando and Zolile were sitting in my bedroom eating and chatting.

Zolile:So now that Zenkosi is out of the hospital when are you planning to break your virginity?

Me:Not anytime soo when I get married.

Nolu:This if so funny a virgin that has a baby wow!

Me:I know right? But I don't regret doing the C-section I that mark is a sign of my love for my baby

Then my phone rang in my apron. It was Mmeli.

My cousins looked at me qith confusion.

He hung up the these two stupidos laughed aww what now!

Zolile:(imitating my voice)Sokalisa

We laughed.Mom came in the bedroom with my mushroom.

Nolu: I'll take her

Me:Aww no mom give me to her I haven't held her.

Mom laughed

Mom: We understand here is your baby

I took her and look at her deeply in her eyes.She is so beautiful beats me cause she doesn't look like me.Maybs she looks like her "father".I rocked her to sleep while talking to my cousins.

It was now at night the whole family prayed the our other family left it was now me the parents and my brothers.

Me:This was a good day

Mnqobi:agreed

Me: Goodnight fam I'm tires hey,lots of love hey.

I went to sleep.Iwoke up in the morning.I had a text from Mmeli,"Hey Mami I'm going to fetch you at 11,have a vood day munchkin ''

I smile as I replied.

I went to take a bath then I went to help my mom clean the house.When Zee woke up I gave her a bath the dressed her into her warm clothes.I also changed into something comfortable.I wore my navy long bandage dress with navy knee length boots and a black coat.I texted him telling him we are ready.I told my mom that we are going to the mall and we'll hire a driver.He texted me that he was outside I said my goodbyes to my fam.I went inside the car

Me: Morning,please hold her I have to rush inside to get the car seat.

Mmeli:(softly)okay...

I gave her to him then I rushed inside.When I came back Mmeli was looking deeply in her eyes and my baby was laughing.

Me:Mmeli what are you doing to my daughter.

Mmeli:We were talking aww uthanda izindaba.

I laughed while Istrapped Zee on ther carseat.I sat next to Zee then he drove away.

Me: I'm surprised why you don't have a baby.You are so inlove with my mushroom.

Mmeli:(throat clearing)Uhm...I do have a child

Me:Oh

I don't know why I wished that he would've said he doesn't have a child.

Mmeli:But it's complicated I have to say.

Me:How?

Mmeli: That's a story for another day hey

Me:Oh okay I understand.

Mmeli:We are now going to my house.

Me:Mmh okay.

We drove inside his beautiful house.

He went to open the door then came back and took Zenkosi.

Ne:Zee gets all the attention now I see.

Mmeli:I can sense jealousy.

Me:Yeah whatever.

We walked inside laughing.

We got inside then settled in the lounge He placed Zenkosi on his laps.

Mmeli: I'm sure are wondering why I asked to meet you and the babh right?

Me:Sokalisa...

Mmeli: Straight to the point Zenkosi needs to be at her home.His paternal side of the family.

Me:But how will I find him cause I don't know who he is.

Mmeli:Have you ever asked yourself why am I so attached to you?

Me:I feel so safe around you and something keeps drawing me to you.

Mmeli: That's because we were binded way before we were born.We were made for each other.As crazy as it may sound but Zenkosi is my daughter.

I went to him as I was about to take Zenkosi from him he gently removed my hands.

I felt that I sat down like a child that is being disciplined.

Mmeli:Thank you,So as I was explaining Zenkosi is my daughter.As few months ago my brother took me to the doctor for soerm donation.I didn't understand why. Thereafter I started having weird dream of me holding a baby.Then the next it was me sitting next to puke.It was a whole lot of weird dreams and I trued to consult but my brother knew all along what was happening.The day I saw you the connection felt so right.I was too attached yearning to see your daughter for no particular reason.Uptil the day before yesterday after our call I went to my hut to consult and pray for Zenkosi.I got a vision from my great grandafather telling me to bring Zenkosi home.I went to ask my brother then he laued everything out to me and wgy he did the sperm donation.The dreams and everything.Then shortly after I called you then you told me that the baby girl was now okay. That's when I realized that she really is mine and our ancestors came through for their special child She was Zenkosi for a reason.It was not by your will but by the God's will.I'm also Zenkosi because I am the child of the gods.

Me:So you are my baby daddy?

I chuclked while looking down and okaying with my hands.

Mmeli:Yes and I peomise ro be there for our angel.I love her.

Me:(smile)Ncoa.

I looked at them they really do look alike.Aww "my little family".

So now where to from here?Gosh.

Me:So what's next?

Mmeli:I have to introduce her to my ancestors.That way she will be protected.

I nodded.He looked at me and smiles.

Mmeli: That's more like baby mama

His smile was so contagious just like Zenkosi's.

Me:Aww stop it.

I laughed.

Mmeli:My family will be very glad to see her.My mom will be surprised but is going to say I told you so because she has been dreaming fruits the past few months.

Me:Is Zenkpsi the first grandchild?

Mmeli:Yes,the very first precious one.

Me:Aww man.

We spent the rest of the day inside watching movies and getting to know each other. He is a gentlemen that sure knows how to carry a lady. He has done way far for himself at the age of 27 he owns businesses, hotels and properties.

Me:Mom is asking me to come back now, please take us back.

Mmeli:So early aww okay is everything in place?

Me:Yes it is

Mmeli:Okay let's go.

We passed by the toy store he bought her a lot of teddies. We went inside checkers. Everyone went on their knees and chanted "Bayede" Oksy now I'm confused. He held my hand tightly. We walked inside the store the way we were getting stares.

Me: What's all this about?

Mmeli: I'm a prince.

Me:Meaning my face will be all over the TV? God.

I sighed. We went to the till and the cashier was familiar. She was a grown woman.

She smile and placed her hands together and bowed her head.

Me:What a nice and humble woman.

Mmeli:I know right.

We went to the car and we drove home.The moment I got home I changed Zenkosi into her pyjamas.We took a few pics then we sent them to him.

We went to the lounge I found my parents watching tv.

Me:Parents.

Dad:Hey cutie.

Mom:No baba she is a grown woman now.

Me:You are jealous.

We watched the news and then boom my face on the news.

Dad:MaZulu what's going on?

Mom:You were with the prince?

Me:Listen yoh!

Dad: Explain maZulu.

Me:He is Zenkosi's father.

Mom&Dad:What?!!

Me:Yes,the sperm I used was his.

Mom:How did you know because it is kept confidential?

Me: It's a long story but bottom line is he is Zenkosis father.Also he is coming to pay for the damages and for Zenkosi as well.

Mon:Oh wow.

Dad:When is he coming to do so?

Me:I don't know as yet but I'll ask him.

Dad:Okay

Mom:But it's a good thing that Zee has a father now.Imagibe having to grow up being told that your father died long ago when he is alive

Dad:I still need answers maZulu.

Me:Zulu.

We continued watching tv till ny parents went to sleep. I went yo my bedroom and I received a call from mmeli.

we talked and he told me he will come the day after tomorrow to pay.

We ralked until I slept.

Days went by and it was the damages day.

He came with his dad and two of his brothers. Zweli and Sbusiso that's what he said. It was a good day indeed. His father asked to see Zenkosi I went to give her to him.He smiled as he looked at her.

MrB: She is a photocopy of us.

Zweli:Indeed ufana nobaba bakhe nomkhulu.

Sbu: Don't let mom gear that cause you will sleep outside.

Mmeli and his dad laughed.

Mmeli:True.

Dad:She doesn't look like Qhakaza not even close to her.I thought she stole her.

Then they laughed again

MrB:Thank Makoti.

Me and Mmeli looked at each other then I cleared my throat.

Sbu and Zweli were laughing silently.Gosh.

MrB:No need for this awkward moment either way uyogcine uyumakoti wakwami.

Dad: Royalty marries royalty.

MrB:True but the ancestors chose her and we know better than to go against our ancestry wish.

Dad: That's so wise of you.

MrB:After imbeleko we are gonna have to start the wedding preparations.

Me:The WHAT?!!!

MrB:Wedding.

Me:Shoo.

I ran upstairs.I sat there in the dark.A knock disturbed my thoughts.I kept quiet.Mmeli came in.

Mmeli:MaZulu are you okay?

Me:Do I llok okay?

Mmeli:Okay listen...(sits on the floor)You were chosen by our an ancestors.Your ancestors agreed too.The gods ralked and finished we don't have much of a choice cause did you see what happened toZee?

Me(sigh)I guess you are right .

We talked until we went down to the rest of the people.

My brothers came they looke confused.

Mmeli:Gents who told you we will be here?

Sbu:Yeah gents .

Mnqobi:This is our home.

mmeli,sbu&zwe:What?!

Mnqobi:Yes,nibekwa yini la Nduna?

Me: Y'all know each other?

Mmeli:Uh.. yeah

Me:Small world,so Mmeki is Zenkosis father.

Sya:Ayy kameni,how manje?

Mmeli: Just like that
