CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX LibbyThe barista tapped the metal scoop against the counter to dislodge the used coffee grinds. The sound echoed off the walls and ceiling, jarring Hana’s nerves. Libby was late and Hana twisted the endearing trait into an annoying trigger. Sitting back in her chair, she forced herself to calm by staring through the wide windows at the mountain range. She pinpointed the location of her house on one of the lower peaks though the bush canopy blocked it from view. A light rain dusted the ground and offered relief to the earth’s baked crust.
