START SCENE.
*The sound of something thick dripping echoes through the dark.*
Dark scarlet slowly pools and runs thick across the brown hardwood floor. Dealing into the cracks of the floor boards. Horrific death stares from the eyes of Lily's parents stare back. The blood from her father in the foyer and from her mother's mangled body from the living room meets at the doorway pooling into a bigger puddle of pain. Suffering. Guilt.
Lily's mother: *With the state of death and glazed over lifeless eyes, she whispers angrily*
"Why lily?.... Why didn't you do SOMETHING??"
"Why didn't you move from those stairs??"
"Why didn't you save us from those monstrous things?? You just sat there atop the stairs and watched them as they murdered us!!!"
A deep dark growl starts to echo from the darkness of her mother's words.
Lily's father: *In an angry but sad whisper*
"Why didn't you help us??"
Suddenly two glowing needy red eyes stare back from the dark. The growl gets louder and deeper with anger and blood lust. The growl crackles across the stale air. The creature, in the blink of an eye, lunges forward with blood splashing from it's razor sharp teeth….
*BEEP… BEEP… BEEP….BEEP* The alarm sounds off it's war cry.
Lily jolts up from her bed. Drenched in a cold sweat as the terror of the nightmare fazes her. She wipes the sweat from her face as she takes in the farmers of her one bedroom apartment. Her breathing at first rapid with panic starts to slow. She takes a deep breath to remain in control and slowly let's it out through her nose. This was a trick her grandfather taught her to help the panic attacks she had been having since IT happened 6 months ago.
*Lily throws her blanket off the rest of the way and swings her legs over to the side of the bed, a cold shiver racks over her body as her feet hit the cold wooden floor. She clenches the edge of the bed with her hands, squeezing her eyes shut tight she shakes her head to try and rid of the terrible memory that haunts her. Giving the bed one more hard clench, she reaches over to her night stand and turns on the light evaporating the darkness.*
Staring at the floor for a moment more, Lily gets off the bed and heads over to her closet across the room from her bed. She opens the sliding mirror to view her wardrobe. It wasn't anything special. Mostly darker colors like black, grey, browns, dark blues with some dark red and maroons scattered throughout. The closet itself was small in depth but was wide for the sliding mirror. Lily riffles through her clothes, deciding she will just wear a grey lacy shirt with a pair of black skinny jeans and her black converse. She closes the mirror door and walks over to her dresser next to the closet. Yanking the drawer open she grabs a pair of underwear and socks and then slams the drawer back shut. She then heads to the bathroom that sits on the adjacent wall. In the bathroom there is a clawfoot tub shower to the left, the toilet straight ahead from the door and across from the tub is a vanity sink and mirror with a wicker hamper next to it and above the hamper was the towel rod and towel. Lily turns on the shower and throws off her clothes. She needed to rinse off the sweat from the terror of her memories, off of her body. She felt filthy and like death.
Sitting in the tub, Lily let the water from the shower fall over her. She has her knees pulled to her chest and her arms wrapped around them. She perched her chin atop her knees. Staring at the wall sheet the water ran down her skin and dripped off. She watches as the water swirls down the drain. In a bit of a daze lily sighs and stands up to wash as she recollects what has happened to her life a mere 6 months ago.
Lily: *tears fall down her cheeks*
"Why?"
She whispers to herself as she rinses the soap off of her skin.
Lily shuts off the water and pulls the shower curtain open. She steps out of the tub and grabs her soft black towel and wraps it around herself. She then steps to her mirror to take a look at herself.
Dark circles shadowed her eyes. She had been having nightmares almost every night since her parents were murdered.
*lily sighs deeply*
Lily: "Okay, I need to get moving, Gran and gramps are waiting for me."
She brushes her teeth and then her hair. She pulls her wet hair into a messy ponytail and decides to put on some make up.
"Gran and gramps can't know I haven't been sleeping well, they'd worry." She says to herself while covering the dark circles with concealer.
After she's done she goes back into her bedroom to put her shoes on and grab her stuff before leaving her bedroom. She walks out into the studio like living room and kitchen. It was a pretty open floor plan.
Lily: "no breakfast this morning, I'm sure they will have food already for when I get there, they always do" she says before walking out of her apartment and locking the door with a *CLICK* of the lock before observing her building's hallway.
It was brightly lit and smelled of musk and cigarettes. The carpet was a navy blue color and the walls of the halls were red with flower pots across the walls every few feet. It wasn't a bad place to live and it was affordable. So she had no complaints. But she had some paranoia issues and had to always check before she walked down the hall and out of her complex she's been calling her residence for the past 3 months.
