It was a cold winter day in the beginning of January. Lily had just graduated this last summer from high school. Lily and her parents were coming home from vacation for Christmas break. It was a Darker than usual winter night. The roads were slick with black ice and slush. Powder white snow fell soft and slow against the windows of the car.
.START SCENE.
*Lily watches as the street lamps pass by while sitting in the back seat. Her parents were discussing colleges they thought she should check into. Lily wasn't really paying them much attention though. She didn't know if she wanted to go to college*
Mom: "Lily?... Lily, darling, are you even listening to your father and I?"
Lily: *snapping out if her daze and dance with the street lights she responds with a sigh*
"Sorry mom, I zoned out for a moment. I'm… I'm just not sure if I want college in my future right away."
*The car falls into an awkward silence that could be cut with a butter knife*
Mom: "Sweety, have you given this much thought? Your father and I just want you to be happy and successful. What's your plan now that you are out of highschool?" *Concern laced her soft voice*
Lily's mom was a slender woman with soft creamy skin and black hair. She had big beautiful blue ocean eyes that could make you melt with guilt over one glance. Her smile was as sweet as cake and her lips as red as a rose. She stood about 5'7" and had great posture.
Dad: *with a gruff and a sigh*
"Sweetheart, I thought you wanted to go to college for photography? What happened to that plan? Why did you change your mind?"
Lily: *Looking down at her lap and sadness in her voice*
"Dad, I'm not sure if I'm even any good. How would I be able to get a job and support myself? Let alone a family. I know…. I know I'm different and people look at me strangely. I don't understand why. How will this affect me in the future in getting a job? I just….. I just think I should get a job and a place first and get experience before deciding if it's worth going to college."
Lily was referring to the kids at her highschool. She's always been a bit of a loner, an outsider that hadn't really fit in anywhere. She had tried to. She tried making friends and finding a group, but she was always just used or pushed aside or flat out ignored. She found it easier to be alone because then she wouldn't disappoint anyone.
Lily dressed differently too. With her soft cream colored skin, she just always looked better in darker colors. Her hair was a dark brown almost black with a glint of auburn in the sunlight, just like her father's. She loves her hair especially since it curled and waved down her back like ocean waves crashing against the sand. She stood about 5'7" like her mother and had pretty amber colored eyes. Just like her dad as well. Her lips were a blushing pink color and her cheeks slightly rosey.
.END SCENE.
START SCENE.
After the conversation and another hour of watching the lights, they finally arrived home. They took in their bags and started to put everything away. By the time they are finished Lily notices the clock says 10pm.
*Lily glances out of her bedroom window, it's pitch black out and not even a twinkle to see in the sky, something felt off to Lily*
Lily's room was a decent size for a 17year old. She had a window that had a bench built into the front of it as a reading nook.next was her bed against the opposite wall dressed in grey and purple sheets and comforter. She had multiple colors atop her bed due to throw pillows and stuffed animals. Next to her bedwas a black nightstand with a wrought iron lamp shining with a black opaque shade. On the wall near her door, was a desk that sat in the corner with her laptop and camera. Next to it sat a tall black bookshelf that contained her collection of horror stories and movies, manga, romance novels and all of her weird little knickknacks such as her bug models and figurines.she also had skulls and bones she found in the forest behind her house that were in tact as well as butterfly corpses she found among the flowers. It was unusual to like these things and she knew that but she wished she had someone to relate to and talk with about strange things.
*Lily is posted up on her bed reading a book when all of a sudden she hears a crash and a bang downstairs*
Lily: *standing up with hesitation and confusion makes her way to the bedroom door*
"What the f**k is going on downstairs?" She exclaims to no one but herself.
*She opens her door an quietly makes her way down the stairs to have a peek at the ruckus*
*Sitting perched on the stairs to where she can peek at what's happening and not be seen, Quickly clasps her hand to her mouth to muffle a scream of shock and horror*
There are 4 men?...creatures?….shadows maybe? Standing at the doors entrance holding guns up at her parents. The vanity that was in the foyer near the door was toppled over and glass shattered across the floor. The tension in the air was thick and cold as ice.
Lily: *to herself* -what the f**k is going on?! Who are they, and why are they here with guns pointed at mom and dad???-
*Lily starts to freak out and tries to take a deep breath to remain calm and not get caught*
Lily: *Thoughts* -okay, what can I see? What can I do to save them? -
*lily tries to move but realizes she's frozen in fear*
-f**k! Why now?! Why do I have to freeze up now? I have to save them. I can't let mom and dad die because I was too scared to move a muscle-
The intruders in the moment of Lily's inner struggle said something inaudible to her parents. Her parents have both their hands raised in the air to try and plead the intruders not to shoot. Lily's dad tries to talk to the intruders.
Dad: *in a lowly growl looks at the intruders from the tops of his eyes*
"Take what you want, and leave this house. We won't stop you. Just don't hurt us"
One of the intruders maniacally laughs at his words. This sent a chill down Lily's spine. She could feel something heart wrenching was about to happen.
*Intruders to each other*
Intruder one: *with a stern voice* " You stay here and watch these two while the rest of us scour the house for it!"
*Lily to herself* -it? What's this "it" they are looking for? What could we possibly have that others would want to steal it from us-
Intruder two: "The two of you don't move or I will shoot you without hesitation. Do you understand me?" He growled out.
Lily's mom and dad kept silent.
Intruder two: *Taking in a deep breath and letting out a loud growl* " I SAID DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? I WILL NOT f*****g HESITATE!"
Dad: *with a dark stare directed towards the intruders*
"We understand."
*After he speaks these words he has a thought and peers at the broken glass on the ground, looking back up at the intruders and then at his wife. She shakes her head to tell him not to even think about it and to stay still. His eyes plead with her for a moment and then he glanced the the Intruder again*
Intruder three: " Guys I think I found it."
*Three pairs of feet quickly crossed the house knocking things over and breaking invaluables on the way to the room intruder three called from. Intruders two remains with his gun pointed. Intruder two is distracted by the other three intruders, he calls out.*
Intruder two: "Yo, did he find it? Is it the real thing?"
Silence fell upon Lily's home for a moment until out of the corner of her eye she saw her father give an apologetic glance to her mother and then as fast and he could grab a sharp long pointed glass from the ground and slammed in into the intruders knock. A loud scream and gurgle emanated from the intruder. In one brisk movement intruder two fires his gun.
BANG.
*The crack of the gun radiated through the air making ears ring. Lily jumps from the Bang of the gun and quickly searches for the one shot. Tears immediately start pouring down Lily's face and her eyes land on her father's body laying upon the ground. His eyes were wide open with shock, he slowly reached towards his stomach and grasped at his shirt soaking up with blood and let out a gruff grunt and a quick cough. Blood starts to puddle on the floor*
*Lily, in shock, can't remove her eyes from her father. Then she hears her mother screaming and watches as she clutches her husband in her arms. The other three intruders rush into the foyer.*
