"Umm... hi Liam... what are you doing here?" I ask nervously.
Silence.
"Liam please say something..." I plead.
"How long?" he asked.
"Oh... umm about 500 wolf years or 15 years for humans. Anything else?"
"Umm... are the stories true that you... eat..."
"Woah... no not all of us... just some." I replied shocked. Why would he ever think that?
" But are the stories true that you... you know what to... people?" He asks hesitantly.
"Umm... I don't know? I believe certain packs do such things but I don't know for sure."
"Oh okay!" He replied.
"Come on Liam. I will tell you everything inside with some snacks."
So we walked from the woods to my house. My brother was talking in the woods so he wouldn't notice Liam coming in from the back door.
Once inside I grab some snacks and we go to my room. I sit on my bed and Liam sat at my desk.
"So... Liam, what do you want to know?" I ask.
Well according to the books you can not touch silver, wolf Bain, or your own blood. Am I right?"
Wow, he knows a lot. "Well for the most part yes, yes, you are. All I have to say is that I can touch my blood I can't digest it."
"Oh ok...well is it true you can turn humans into wolves?"
"Yes... but it's a long process..."
"Ok. How bout mating? Is it true it's against wolf law to mate with a human?"
"Umm... yes... but some disobey it."
"Like who?"
"Well there was a chief... well ex-chief... who gains his pack back... he mated with a human. They supposedly had a rough time... or that's what our history says..." and Lucas was a descendant of that chief and human.
"Oh..." he said sounding disappointed that I refused to go into detail.
"Liam... all that I'm telling you must stay a secret," I command.
"Ya ok." He said looking at something on his phone.
"Anything else?" I ask to feel that he wants to say something.
Now certain wolves have the ability to read minds. But those are mainly chiefs. Now my mom and dad have the ability but they stay with the other wolves while I and my brother stay with the humans.
"Umm... yes... but I will wait to ask."
"Umm... ok... want to watch a movie?"
"No thanks I have to get home before my parents get worried. See you tomorrow!"
"Okay!" I guess...
It's been almost two weeks since Liam found out. All he does is ask a few questions here and there then he disappears.
Now Lucas and I are starting to hang out more. We hunt once a week together and he asks me to watch him during football practice.
Liam keeps asking if Lucas and I are a thing. I tell him no we are just friends.
Anyway, I'm watching Lucas right now practice. I feel like the whole team has an eye on me. I don't know if they're are scared I will throw something at them or what.
When Lucas takes a water break he comes over to me.
"Hey white! You want to throw the ball around some?"
"Umm... I don't know Lucas... you are practicing..." I say not wanting to ruin his practice.
"Oh come on... do you want me to ask the coach?"
"Sure ask coach then come get me," I said knowing the coach will say no.
Lucas runs over to the coach.
About five minutes later he comes over with a football in hand.
"He said yes! And that if you do good there is a spot on the team and you can join!"
"Wait what!" I said completely surprised.
"Yep! Now come on I will get the team together and they can show you some ropes."
"Umm... okay..." I said half scared to death.
Lucas basically carried me over to where the rest of the team was. Why? Simple I really didn't want to hurt any of them.
But they are football players they most like have had broken bones and more.
Anyway, once I was in the middle of players and coach they started saying things at the same time. Then someone threw me something thankfully I caught it. I look down and see a helmet and jersey. When I look up the coach said, "welcome number 1! Now we will get you a better jersey in a few days. Now boys be nice this is a girl, not a dog." Ouch. That hurt. "Team dismissed!"
"Come on white let's work on your throw." Said Lucas. He and a few others walk over to a patch of green grass. I walked after them. But god I didn't know what I got myself into.
Practice went on until the bell was ringing. Coach told me that the girls' locker room was across from the boys. Then he handed me a locker number and key.
I went in and changed my shirt and put the jersey into the locker. Tomorrow I am bringing hangers. And some clothes.
After I wrote a list of things to bring I walked out of the locker room to see Lucas standing waiting for me.
"Hey white!" He said.
"Hi, Lucas."
"So what do you think?"
"Not bad... well... I have to run... see you later!"
I said and ran down the hall and outside to see Liam waiting for me.
"Hey, Liam ready?"
"Yes." He said.
We started walking down the sidewalk. He was talking about wolves again. Saying stuff about how majestic they are. And all sorts of stuff.
Once we were at my house we grabbed some snacks and sodas and went to my room. When we went in Liam said, " I want to be a wolf!"
"What!" I said spitting my Dr. Pepper everywhere.
"I want to be a wolf." He said again.
"No I know what you said but why do you want this curse?" I asked.
"Well because I want to be like you. I want to be with you."
"What are you saying?" I asked.
"I like you, Zara. You may like that football player but he's no wolf. I want to be with you. Please..." he said begging.
He likes me. Liam likes me. Omg.
" well, Liam... I don't know... I never turned anyone." I said.
"Please..." he said begging still.
"Liam... no I can't I won't. You don't want to be like me." I said standing my ground.
"Please Zara please..."
"No! I refuse!" I said not wanting my friend to be like me.
"I will change your mind," he said leading outside into the woods.
He took me into a little cave and...
