Shine stood at the far end of the room, her back to the window, clutching a tablet. Across from her sat three stony-faaced investors from a private equity firm, their eyes fixed on the PowerPoint presentation. But Gilbert wasn't looking at the screen. He was leaning back in his chair, his gaze boring into Shine every now and then. The clock on the wall ticked to 10:45 AM. Shine shifted a bit, her thighs rubbing together under her pencil skirt.
