Aurora locked her front door and Will offered her his arm as they walked. “Where shall we go first?” Aurora asked. “Anywhere you want to go?” She loved the Mayfair Park this time of year so she suggested that they go for a stroll in the Park. The Gardens there were extensive and it made for the perfect place to get to know one another in a public setting.
They walked around the gardens for a few hours and talked about the things they liked, disliked, things they had in common, things they didn’t have in common, their siblings, their best friends, their pets, and even their bosses. They enjoyed each other’s company immensely.
Soon Aurora’s stomach began to rumble loudly. “Oh my, excuse me.” She said completely mortified and blushing. “No worries, Ms. Aurora, I am quite famished myself. Shall we get some supper?” They walked to the curb and he hailed a cab. He instructed the cab driver where to go and soon they were in front of the restaurant. “La Belle.” Aurora read the sign out loud as they exited the cab. “I’ve never been here before.” She said. “Well, it will make for a new experience.” He said with a pleasant expression on his face.
There were candles and soft violin music playing. There was plush blue velvet booths and matching drapes. She was surprised almost shocked at the sight, but she kept her mouth closed. She could hear her mother’s voice ringing in her ears. “Close your mouth Tiffany and stop gaping.”
They were seated in a quiet booth in the outside terrace at the back of the restaurant. The evening was unusually warm. They ordered Chenin Blanc and salad while they waited for their Ratatouille with fettuccine noodles. The salad was delicious and the Ratatouille with fettuccine noodles was delectable.
They talked about their busy schedules while they ate their supper.
Then they ordered two tiramisu desserts. Aurora had folded some bread into her napkin and put it off to the side of her plate. Will pretended not to notice and swirled the wine in his cup. He paid for the meal and then she said she needed
to use the rest room. He said he did too.
They accidentally ran into each other as they came out of the restrooms
opposite of each other. They both laughed. Aurora had placed the napkin in her clutch before she went into the restroom. He offered her his arm again and then they walked outside.
They walked down by the river. The moon was shining incandescently on the the water. It reflected on their faces and hair. Aurora stopped and pulled the napkin out of her clutch and unfolded it. She began breaking it up and dropping it on the ground.
All of a sudden a flock of geese came and began devouring the bread she had broken up. They back away slowly and continued walking along the river bank. Aurora thanked him for a wonderful evening. “You are very welcome.” He said.
