CHAPTER VIIII

Locco Vrayne, the fearless warrior and Rogue King's daughter, was imprisoned by the Enigma, a council that keeps the werewolf race at peace. A year later, she escaped with the help of her father, Magnus Vrayne. She was then left perplexed as she caught a whiff of the most beautiful scent she had ever encountered. She was given no respite, and the next day she was sent to Bluebell, California, to supervise a transaction that her father had landed on. She was then accompanied by Elijah Stone, who was "overjoyed" to be on the same mission as her. By the time they arrived and settled into their rented apartment, they had decided to go out to the town's bar, where they expected to meet Max Bentwood, the son of a wealthy businessman, Henry Bentwood, with whom they would do business. But before that, Elijah convinced her to dye her hair ginger and go by the name Sienna; she then managed to mask her scent, much to her dismay. The moment they got to the bar, things began to change when Max appeared to be smitten with Locco and attempted to fancy her. Before anything could happen, the Lycans, Dominic Pavero, and Melanie Fevre made an appearance. Locco and Elijah managed to escape and flee toward the forest, where they encountered Lazarus Zexirin and found out that they were actually mates. Lazarus tried to take Locco with her out of concern for Locco's safety, but Locco refused because she believed that mates were useless and made an effort to reject Lazarus but she was silenced by a kiss. Angry, Locco threatened Lazarus not to follow her and left with Elijah.

The morning after, she spotted Lazarus waiting outside her apartment; he forced Locco to come with him while Elijah was left to do all the talking regarding the business. Locco discovered that the Lycans were just residing in the same town when Lazarus brought her over to what seemed to be a manor in the middle of the forest. There, she found a picture of a girl inside a frame on Lazarus’ desk, and she couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy and was curious to find out who it was. She then heard a voice whispering out to her; she followed it and came across the moon crystal. She touched it and immediately felt energy course through her body. She was convulsing when Lazarus found her; he then got Melanie to treat her, and due to the pain, Locco passed out. When she woke up, Lazarus was nowhere to be found, but the other Lycans were. Locco got to know the rest of the gang, Valerio Savatier and Lunnette Olivier. Mid-conversation, she noticed the Lycans tensing up in unison, followed by Lazarus appearing and warning them about Duncan. Enigmas surrounded the tiny shack that they resided in. Despite her weakness, Locco attempted to attack Duncan outside, but she was stopped by Lazarus, who convinced her not to, and then Lunette grabbed a hold of her head and put her to sleep. Except for Lazarus, Melanie went out to talk to Duncan, followed by the other Lycans. Duncan was skeptical about Lazarus' absence, but he believed the lie they told him about Locco fleeing them. Duncan was disappointed by the news and left, but not before promising to return.

Worried about his mate, Lazarus stayed up to look after Locco, and when she woke up, she hastily tried to leave so she could get to Elijah, but Lazarus refused to let her go and made her have breakfast first. She then returned to her apartment to find Elijah and tell him what had happened. Elijah offered to handle the transaction on his own, but she declined and accompanied him to meet Henry Bentwood. When they arrive at his office, they both notice that almost everything Henry owns is silver, making it difficult for them to act normally. Their conversation went fine, but not after Henry offered his hand, filled with silver rings, for a handshake with Locco.
