He was different from others. His chiseled features and handsome face made him stand out. His skin was a pale white, almost translucent, and his unfathomable, almond-shaped eyes seemed to hold a depth that was hard to ignore. Those eyes were as deep as they were expressive, and I found myself getting lost in them if I stared for too long.
His smile was charming, and his well-defined cheekbones added to his allure. But what really caught my attention was the earthly scent that swirled around him, mingling with the nice smell of his cologne.
As I saw him standing opposite me, I had to remind myself to breathe. Here we go, I thought. Don't mess this up.
I kept staring down, holding the hem of my dress and clinching my hands shyly. "H...hey," he croaked.
Oh my god, he talked to me! I looked up, and our eyes met for the third time. "Uhh, hi," I stuttered.
"I'm Bryan," he said, revealing his white set of teeth. "I think we've met before right? At the cafe."
"Huh...y...yes" I stammered
"I'm Carina, and...she's Kyla," Carina said, pointing at me.
I was too shy to even look at his eyes for long. Bryan's eyes were on me the whole time, and I couldn't help but wonder why he was staring at me so intently.
Won't he stop staring? I thought, feeling his gaze on me.
Carina stared at us with a funny look and smiled secretly. "I'm sorry, I got carried away by her beauty," Bryan said, smiling at me.
My heart melted again for the second time.
"We will take our...leave now," I stammered, walking away hurriedly. Carina ran after me.
"Why did you have to leave in such a way?" she asked, catching up with me.
"That was the best thing I could do at that moment, and besides, I couldn't stand his gaze," I said slowly.
"I think he likes you," Carina said, while I laughed.
"I'm serious, didn't you see how he was staring and smiling at you?" she asked.
"Geeez...," I smirked.
"I also caught you staring," Carina laughed.
I turned to her immediately. "I wasn't staring."
"Someone is lying," Carina teased.
I wasn't listening to Carina's teasing. Different thoughts of Bryan were running across my mind.
"He is damn handsome."
"Does he like me?"
"No, I don't think he likes me."
"But what if he does?"
"Bryan likes me..."
"Yes...he likes me."
I was still lost in thoughts when Carina jolted me.
"Are you okay? I have been calling your name, and you weren't saying anything."
"Maybe I didn't hear you when you called."
"Someone is madly in love," Carina screamed.
I only smirked. "I'm not."
"You are."
"I'm not."
"Kyla is in love with Bryan," she teased.
"Oh...stop it. I don't love him for heaven's sake."
I pressed forward, getting tired of the argument.
"So, where are we heading to?" I asked.
"What if we go and watch the fireworks?" Carina suggested.
"That will be cool," I said with a smile.
As we walked towards the park where the fireworks were being displayed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Carina was chattering away, telling me about the different types of fireworks that would be displayed, but I wasn't really listening. My mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Bryan.
I had been thinking about him nonstop since our encounter earlier that day. I couldn't believe how handsome and charming he was. And the way he had smiled at me...I felt like I was melting.
As we reached the park, I could see that it was packed with people. There were families with kids, couples on dates, and groups of friends all gathered together to watch the fireworks display.
