Carina and I found a spot near the front and settled in to wait for the show to start. As we waited, I couldn't help but scan the crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of Bryan. But he was nowhere to be seen.
Just as I was starting to get disappointed, I heard a voice behind me. "Hey, mind if I join you?" it said.
I turned around, and my heart skipped a bit as I saw Bryan standing there, smiling at me. "Not at all," I said, trying to sound casual despite the fact that my heart was racing. Just then, Carina excused herself and joined in on the fun. She was already dancing with a group of strangers, laughing and spinning to the music. I smiled, happy to see her having so much fun.
Bryan sat down beside me, and we chatted for a bit as we waited for the fireworks to start. I was surprised by how easy it was to talk to him. He was funny and charming, and I found myself laughing and smiling more and more as the conversation went on.
As the fireworks display started, Bryan and I sat back to watch. The explosions of color and light in the sky were beautiful, but I couldn't help but feel that the real fireworks were happening right beside me.
As we watched the display, Bryan's hand brushed against mine, sending a spark of electricity through my body. He reached out and took my hand, his fingers intertwining with mine in a gentle, casual gesture. But it didn't feel casual to me. It felt like my heart was skipping a bit, like my entire world had come to a standstill.
I felt like I was melting into his touch, like I was becoming a part of him. I turned to him, and our eyes met in the darkness. For a moment, we just stared at each other, the fireworks exploding in the background like a symphony of color and light.
Then, without saying a word, Bryan leaned in, his face inches from mine. I could feel his warm breath on my skin, and my heart was racing with anticipation. I was sure he was going to kiss me.
But just as our lips were about to touch, Carina walked up to us, giving me a funny look that left us both in stitches. She had already painted her face, and the colorful design made her look even more vibrant. "Let's go get your face painted Kyla." she exclaimed, completely unaware of the moment she had just interrupted.
I stood up, and Bryan excused himself, leaving me feeling a pang of disappointment. I didn't want him to go, and his departure left me with a strange, hollow feeling.
We made our way to the face-painting stall, where I had to wait in line for a few minutes. When it was finally my turn, I took a seat and asked the artist to recreate the same design he had done for Carina. He smiled and got to work, finishing the intricate design in just a few minutes. Carina paid for the painting, and we rushed off to rejoin the crowd.
The festivities were in full swing, with a performer spitting fire from his mouth, eliciting cheers and applause from the awestruck crowd.
I found myself enjoying every bit of it, I took pictures, as Carina was busy singing and clapping with some group of boys. I found myself catching fireflies, I twirled and laughed happily, even my hair were dancing around my back but I didn't mind. And with that, the night just got a whole lot more interesting.
