Chapter 4 "I understand, I'm sure the meeting was important," my mother remarked quietly, smiling. " So let's talk about the wedding, when is it going to be?" my father inquired, sending my heart racing quicker than I could have imagined. "Oh, I talked to Zachary this morning since he couldn't be around and he was okay with it being on the 25th of this month, which is three weeks from now" airline exclaimed "I'm a little sad that the two won't be able to meet before the wedding" she grumbled. And the talk continues after I confirm my attendance, as if I have a choice; I just want this dinner to be finished. I went directly up to my room after returning home, rejecting anyone's attempt to talk to me, taking off my stupid dress, which is foolish because I'm upset, and changing into an oversize t-shirt and shorts, which I like. I finally plopped into my bed, remembering everything that had happened just a few hours before and the fact that I was being married in three weeks. Ugh! Great! Simply fantastic. According to Mia, there will be no engagement party because my so-called husband is too busy to have the time, so I was given an engagement ring that was also a family heirloom passed down through centuries, it is big and incredibly breath-taking, and it will undoubtedly cause millions. My phone rang, jolting me out of my reverie, and I didn't bother seeing who was calling. "What?" I asked, pitying the person on the receiving end. "Woah woah, what got your trousers twisted?" my best pal responded, brightening my spirits. "I'm sorry Bella, I'm just not in a good mood right now" "How lame was the dinner, what happened?" she asked solemnly. "Turns out I'm getting married three weeks from now" "Wow, that fast." "Yeah, it's been decided and I totally wasn't expecting it to be this early." murmuring "as much as I don't want this wedding I need to think about my family and Mia seems like a nice person." "Who is Mia" "Mia Jenkins, my suppose husband mum, since he was to busy to show up" "Oh my gosh, are you getting married to Zachary Jenkins?" She inquired, excitedly. "Yeah," I replied, my voice bored. But how did she know his name? "How did you know his name?" I said sceptically, as I had forgotten to inform her. "Are you kidding me, who hasn't heard of the Jenkins, the mighty Zachary Jenkins?" she said loudly. "I wouldn't ask if I knew, would I?" I replied, rolling my eyes at the situation. "Where have you been Sophia, you've been to those fancy dinners your parents go to," she asked, speaking to me as if I were an alien. It is not my fault. I seldom pay attention to anyone at those dinner parties since they are just too boring for me and are full of rich arrogant snooty princes and princesses. "What exactly is your point, Bella?" I inquired, a little slyly. "The Jenkins are one of the Richest family in New York, if not the world" she said. "and don't get me started with Zachary Jenkins" . What the hell is going on? Why Mia seemed so familiar made clear now. I was so stressed that I couldn't even remember their name. I can't believe my parents are marrying me off to the wealthiest family in our society and I'm only now finding out. Cue the terrified scream. " You're so lucky, Boo!" He's the sexiest bachelor on the globe and every girl's fantasy." I could see her drooling. "and yet he didn't even bother showing up, what a douchebag" . I was enraged. "A very hot douchebag," she replied. "Who doesn't show up for something this important" . "I understand, but God!" Is he attractive? "Where can I find a hot Zachary Jenkins?" she asked, exaggerating slightly because I hadn't seen him yet. "You need to stop calling him that" . I twitched a little. " Certainly not!"He is more like a Greek god than a hot guy," she whispered dreamily. I giggled at her antics. "That reminds me, I'm going to send you a picture of my engagement ring right now," I added, reaching to my camera and snapping a picture of it to send to her. "Eeeeeeee" my closest friend screamed and I smiled at the precision but also had to move my phone few metres away from my ear in order not to go deaf. "Is that a Jenkins family heirloom?" "That ring cost a lot of money, like millions of dollars," she exclaimed, and I wished I had a fraction of her enthusiasm. "I know, but I cant help but feel like they are all hiding something from me" . "what do you mean" . "I'm not sure, it's just a feeling." I'm confident it's nothing." "Aside from that, I know how stressed up you are about the wedding, and I'm sure it's taking its toll on you. I simply want you to know I've got your back, boo. Given how stressful today was, why don't you get some rest? I promise you'll feel significantly better in the morning." "Thank you so much, babe, what would I do without you?" I joke. " Nothing, nothing at all, babe, now get some rest." "I adore you." "Night Isabella," I replied in a sing-song accent, laughing as I imagined the scowl that I was sure was already on her face. I knew how much she detested being addressed by her entire name. "I take that back, I completely despise you," she said back, and I busted out laughing. I'm very grateful to have a best friend like her; she's the only one who understands me. "I love you too," I answered, knowing she understood the significance of those four words. "Whatever , get off my phone Maya." When my middle name is mentioned, I cringe. "Touché Bella, touché." Her laughing was the last thing I heard before I hung up the phone.
