Chapter fifteen - The only person I need is you

2696 Words
Rosie's POV: Every day, I wake up thinking about what I did to deserve this. I'm trying to be nice to everyone. I barely talk with people. For some reason, no one likes me. Mainly, it's Jessie. I accidentally bumped into her one day at lunch. A small part of my food was on her clothes. She got mad at me so much. She waited for me after every class for the rest of the day and the next one. I couldn't escape from her. She was talking horrible things about my best friend and slapped me. Her nails left a scar on my hand. She dug them so hard that even blood started coming out. I wonder when she will finish me. As I see it, she is ready to beat me up. Hopefully, she breaks a nail. That's why I'm scared that she will do something to me. Up to now, I have never had problems at school. I don't understand what I did. Since I cut off Jake, he hasn't talked with me. No one else is doing it. Her friends are not interested in me. It's not like I am in them. I have only one friend, and I want to stick with him. He is the only person that matters to me. There is no other person who cares more about me than him. That's why I have to keep him. Otherwise, I won't be able to find someone like him. Sadly, I think Jessie wants to take him away from me. Luckily, he is not interested in her. After all, they don't know each other. She has never talked with him. This better don't happen. I don't want her to take the only thing I have. It will be good if I don't think about this. The thing is that I can't. High school was supposed to be fun. My brother never had problems there. Maybe there is a reason for that. I would like it if he could help me. Well, he is too busy. I can talk with my mom and dad, but I don't want them to worry about me. They already have a lot of work. I hope that when I graduate, I won't have the same problems. Today, I am at home. I pleased Austin to let me not go to school for the rest of the week. It was only two days. It's the weekend, and we can finally do something together. I was excited about it, but that was before everything happened. Now, I don't want to do anything. Of course, I should give my teacher a note explaining why I didn't go. Luckily, I have a best friend who will cover for me. That was his idea. Otherwise, I would've asked my parents. The thing is that they will ask many questions. I woke up and checked the time on my phone. It was only 9 am. I got up and went to check on Austin. He was still sleeping. In that case, I can make breakfast. Today, we'll have toasts. I'm not as good as him. That's why I will make something simple. I think it'll be enough for him. When the food was ready, I put it on a tray and walked to his room. I left it on the nightstand, and I carefully laid on the bed. Snuggling has always been one of my favorite things. Soon, I felt a kiss on the top of my head. - Good morning. - To you, too. When did you come? - It was like ten minutes ago. - Something smells delicious. - I made us breakfast. We can eat it if you want. - I would love to try what you have made. - Yeah, it's not as good as your cooking. - Hey, I appreciate everything you do. It doesn't need to be perfect. I like it. - It's good to know. - I said and took the tray - That looks good. I can't wait to try it. - he said and took a bite - Well? - It's perfect. The best toast I have ever eaten. - Be honest. - I am. It's good. I love it when it's a bit crispy. You did a good job. - Thanks. I'm glad that you like it. - I do. Do you have plans for the day? - No. I planned to stay inside. - That won't happen. We are going out. - Can I know where? - No. When we arrive, you will see it. - Ok, fine. How do I have to dress? - The way you like. You look good in everything. - Thank you for the lie. I appreciate it. - I'm honest. I have never lied to you. - I still don't feel good enough. - For who? You are more than enough. Please, stop carrying what people say about you. It's not true. You have to listen to me. I know you better than anyone else. If there is something wrong with you, I will tell you. - If you say so. It's not like you have said something. - Because I don't have to. After all, no one is perfect. There is no such thing as standards. Please ignore every comment and focus on yourself. I know you need this. - I will try, but I might need your help with that. - I will do everything you say without complaining. - Thanks. Austin and I had a peaceful breakfast. Later, we walked out. I have no idea where we are going, but I know he has picked a good place. My best friend will never disappoint me. I'm sure he has planned the whole day. He wants to bring my good mood back. It will take some time. I used to love many things and activities when I was little. Now I have grown up. I have changed. Maybe it was for good. It's better if I don't think about this now. Soon, we arrived at a park. It looks like the Luna Park I used to go as a kid. Well, it's more like a cheaper version. There were way fewer attractions. It's not like this matters to me. I'm glad that we are here. I need something to make me feel better. First, we went to play the classic game of cans and balls. The more cans you hit, the better prize you get. I didn't want anything, but I left him to pay. I wanted to see what would happen. He knocked six out of nine cans. I got a small teddy bear. Later, we walked around to see what else was there. We stopped at a photo booth. Taking pictures of myself is not something I like. I will do it for my best friend. - You can put these in your locker. - Thanks, but no. That is something private. What about yours? - I will put them in my wallet. That way, I will think of you. Also, about how much money I have lost every time I pay. - he said, chuckling - Very funny. - Except for the money part, everything is the truth. - You think about me? - Of course. You are my best friend, and I want to know you are ok. - Yeah, sure. - Did I say something? - No. Why don't we go for lunch? - Sure, no problem. What do you want to eat? - Something with meat? - There are many things with meat. - Surprise me. - Ok, then. I know a place. Let's go, miss. - Thank you, mister. I left my best friend to lead. I'm sure we are going to a restaurant. The thing is that I want to eat meat. I don't know why. Maybe I'm in a meat mood. Well, if that is even a thing. Soon, we arrived. I like the interior. We took a table, and a waiter came. He gave us the menus and left. - You have a lot of meat options. - I want to eat chicken fillet with white sauce and rice. - It sounds good. I want beef with vegetables. - Also, I will take a bottle of water. - No, we'll take two bottles of water. - he said, and I laughed - Ok, two bottles of water. We ordered the food, and after half an hour, it came. It was delicious. This is one of the best restaurant meals I have ever had. My best friend still cooks better. Only my mom can compare with him. I ate the whole thing and even ordered a dessert. The chocolate lava cake was good. When we finished our lunch, Austin went to pay. Then we went for another walk. As I see it, we might spend the whole day outside. It's not like I mind. - Where are we going? - I asked - Shopping. - For what? - You. - I don't need anything. - We are going to the mall. If you are a good girl, I will buy you one ice cream cone with a flavor of your choice. - How generous? I don't need clothes, shoes or anything else from the mall. - The money is mine, so I can do whatever I want with them. - Ok, I won't argue with you about this. - Thank you. Both of us walked to the mall. The first store we went to was a clothing one. I was looking at some T-shirts when I saw Jessie and two of her girls. You have to be kidding me. What is she doing here? We have never met outside my high school. - Look who is here. You decided to go out. - Jessie said and laughed - Yes. - I'm sorry, but you won't find anything below ten dollars. - Hey, I found these mint green sweatpants. You will look amazing in them. - Oh, who is that good-looking boy? - Jessie asked - I'm Austin. Who are you? - Jessie. I have heard many things about you. With that, I noticed how Austin's look changed. If eyes could kill, she would've been dead. In her place, I will run. I know he won't do anything to her. Well, it was visible that he didn't like her. It's not like I do. - I will say it only once. If you don't stay away from my best friend, things will get ugly for you. - I think we can have some fun. - I think you should go home before I step in between. - I said - Watch your mouth. You know what I'm capable of. - I'm sorry. - Sadly, I have to go now. See you soon, Austin. - she said and left - I will kill her. - No, you won't do anything. - But she. - She didn't do anything. You can calm down. - Ok, fine. What do you want us to do now? - You promised me ice cream. - Let's go. My best friend and I went to buy ice cream cones. I picked vanilla and mint with chocolate chips. Austin got chocolate and strawberries. Then we sat down to eat it. I looked up to see Jessie with her girls. She winked at me with a devilish smile. He shouldn't see her. I don't want him to do something stupid. Now, I'm not scared of her because I'm sure he will do everything to keep me safe. In school, things are different. - Will you calm down? - How? She is right there. - You saw her? - Of course, I did. She sat there on purpose. - Why don't we do something fun? - Like what? - I want to style you. - Me? Why? Don't you like my style? - I do, but you keep wearing your old clothes. I think you need something fresh. - No problem. If you want it, I'll do it for you. - Thanks. After we finished our ice creams, Austin and I went to a men's clothing store. He likes wearing sweatpants and jeans with T-shirts and hoodies. That's why I went to search for this type of clothes. Later, I made him try everything on. Of course, I have to approve it. It will be more like an opinion. After all, he will wear the clothes, not me. - What do you think? - It's not bad, but it will look good in another color. I should've thought of that. - Why? I like it. The color is good. - It's perfect. I think you should buy it. - Jessie? What are you doing here? Are you stalking us? - No. I am here with my friends. - Please, bring me another color. - Austin said - No problem. - I said and did it - That looks better. - It's not something I like. - Jessie said - Great. I will buy it. Thanks, Rosie. - No problem. - Hey, do you want us to hang out later? I am free. - Jessie said and grabbed his hand - I'm sorry, but we are busy. - I said - I didn't invite you. - We are always together. - Not today. He is with me. I didn't say anything and walked away. I swear I will kill her. No other girl is supposed to touch him than me. Maybe I sound like a jealous girlfriend, but this is the only thing that left me. Losing him means losing everything. I can't let it happen. He is my best friend. I walked out of the mall and started walking. That was until someone grabbed my hand. I don't need to look to know who this is. - I hate her. - Calm down. I made her go away. She won't come back. - She will do it when I go to school. You are mine. - I said, and he chuckled - Are you jealous? - Of course, I am. I don't share my best friend with anyone. Also, she does it because of me. This girl has never met you before. - I know. Don't worry. She can't do anything to me. I am always on team Rosie. - It's not fair. She gets everything she wants without even moving her finger. I have to fight for everything. That includes you. - You don't have to do it. I will never leave you. I promise. - Really? - Yes. I'm not going anywhere. You can trust me. I'm not leaving you for anything in the world. You are my best friend and my little sister. I care about you. - Thanks. No matter how often you say this, it will always feel nice to hear it again. - Why don't we go home? We spent enough time outside. - I won't deny it. What are your plans for dinner? - I don't have any. Why? - Can we try to make pizza? - Sure, but only if you help me. - You can count on me for that. - Good. Do you want a hug? - Yes. I need one. - Here you go. - he said and hugged me, coming with a kiss on the top of my head The rest of the day, Austin and I were at home. The pizza was great. I might not be the best chef, but we cook great together. Well, I have a good teacher. I don't know what I would've done without him. He does so much for me without even asking him. This is what I call a perfect best friend. Austin might not believe it, but I do. No one else will do such things for me. I know why Jessie is doing all this, but I won't let it happen. She won't go near my best friend again. He is mine, and I'll keep him away from her. Luckily, Austin is not interested in her. I hope that she won't break our friendship. Otherwise, she has to deal with me.
