Nova grinned the moment he saw Cassidy’s name flash across his phone screen. He had been waiting for this call, expecting it all day. He chuckled to himself, knowing she couldn’t resist coming back to him. It was only a matter of time. As he answered the phone, excitement filled his voice.
“Cassidy! I was just thinking about you,” he said with a silent laugh. “Of course, I’ll pick you up, anything you want.”
Cassidy’s tone was calm as she agreed, “Thanks, Nova. I could really use a change of scenery, maybe grab dinner somewhere.”
“Dinner?” Nova’s grin widened. “Absolutely. How about we dine at my place? I’ll set everything up. I promise, you’ll love it.”
Cassidy hesitated for just a moment before agreeing. “That sounds fine, Nova.”
