I make it to Everleigh’s room in no time. When I open the door I’m transported back to when she woke up in the hospital when she got here. I see her curled up in the corner at the far end of the room. Her eyes are darting around like she is seeing something else. I take a step in to the room shutting the door and put my hands in the air. The movement startles her enough and she whips her head in my direction. I watch as her eyes go wide before saddened emotions start flying over her face.
I take a step in her direction and stop.
“Everleigh.” I sigh out and smile.
