Where it all began

1079 Words
Long, long ago the moon goddess had decided enough was enough. It was about time her wolfs understood the importance of the gifts she granted. Instead of taking advantage of them. She hand picked mates who she thought were made for each other and who would be together forevermore. She was sick and tired of her wolfs taking advantage and forgetting the part she played in there lifes. Too many of her wolfs were being rejected by there true mates for selfish reasons and they needed to learn a lesson! Unknown to her wolfs she hatched a plan. Those who were worthy of a mate were gifted a true mate. Those who were selfish or who she deemed unworthy had to prove to her they were. This is where her games came into play. Every year since that day, each unmated wolf who she believes is ready to prove him or herself is invited to take part in her games. These games test there honestly, loyalty, resilience, strength and most of all worthiness. Failure is not an option, By winning these games they are showing they have what it takes to run a pack and proving to the moon goddess they are worthy of her gift, a mate is for life not just for Christmas. Let the games begin!!!! Ashley "I can't believe it," Ashley says to her best friend Susan. "my parents just won't back off, who needs a mate anyway. I'm perfectly capable of looking after this pack all by myself I dont need a man ahhhhh' Susan looks at her best friend and shruggs "come on girlfriend, I think you need to take a chill pill and relax. There your parents and there just worried about you." Susans right of course, i need to relax, its not like I dont want a mate. After 6 years of trying to find mine I had resigned myself to the fact I didn't have one. My parents just didn't understand, for them they found each other and these days thats rare. I realise that being the future Luna was a huge responsibility but I was ready with or without a mate by my side. Just the thought made me sad so I decided to change the subject. '"so how was class? did I miss anything important today?" I had decided to skip class today after my run in with the parents i just was not up to facing everyone. Susan was lounging on my bed, she was absolutely stunning. she had long brown hair just past her shoulders her outfit which consisted of a blue denim dress, white blazer with matching sandals made her stand out amongst the crowd. She was smart, funny and we had been best friends forever or so it seemed. she had come stright from college to see if I was ok. she looked at me with a sparkle in her stunning bluey green eyes. "weve been invited to a party at zacks House, hes celebrating, dont ask me what I stopped listening at the sound of party and alcohol" I laughed at her, typical Susan never one to miss a party. "when do we go" I asked. maybe this is just what I need to take my mind off my own personal issues even if it was only temporary. "Tonight and Ash wear something sexy ill pick you up at 9" With that she gave me a wink, blew me a kiss then left me to my own thoughts. What the hell have I got myself into this is either going to be really really bad or really good but in typical Susan fashion I have no choice. Resigning myself to this fact I picked up a clean towel and headed for a long relaxing bubble bath. I still had a few hours to get ready for tonight and a bath is just what I need. Alfie " Alpha are you listening to us, this is important the pack is becoming restless" I was sat round the huge conference table ignoring Gabe. I was fed up with where this conversation with the council was going, always the same and I was sick of it. So I didnt have a mate, whats the big deal. How dare they judge me, my pack. Everything I did was for them and they had no idea what I did daily to keep them safe. I did not need a mate and truth be told I didn't want one. My wolf Shadow has other ideas about why we needed a mate but i was having none of it and shut him down regularly on that particular subject. Women would throw themselves at me hoping I was there mate. I hated it, dont get me wrong I loved women and I would indulge in my s****l urges but thats all they were. There was never anyone that could hold my interest for long, I definitely never felt any connection. Gabe or whatever the hell his name was, stated having a luna would strengthen the pack bonds. I couldn't see it, he was wrong and now if he did not shut the f**k up I was going to rip his head off. using my Alpha voice I began to talk " NOW LISTEN HERE YOU ARSEHOLE BEFORE I RIP YOU A NEW ONE. I DO NOT REPEAT NOT NEED A MATE TO RUN THIS PACK. IF YOU BRING THIS UP AGAIN YOU WILL LOSE YOUR HEAD AM I CLEAR." poor Gabe had no choice but to shut up, I'd clearly had enough of this conversation and before I killed someone I walked out. When did it become so important to my pack that they have a Luna. People really needed to keep there big noses out of my life I was fine with how my life is now and didn't need a Luna to prove it. Just as I was lost to my thoughts my beta Simon mindlinked me " Em Alpha we have a problem, some wolfs from the northern pack have breached our boarders and are demanding to speak to you" " What now" this was the last thing I needed I was already in a bad mood. " They refuse to say, should we bring them to you?" " No ill find you im on my way" with that I cut the link and shifted into my wolf. Come on Shadow we have some wolfs to hunt down.
