The alarm rang at 6:30 a.m and already Derek was wide awake from his sleepless night. It was his wedding day and the weather was even better. It was chill with warmth and the sky was blue. Derek was in deep thoughts when he was interrupted by a knock. "Come in, he responded with a bass tone." Imani his housekeeper entered the room with a room service troller full with breakfast. The aroma of fresh coffee and baked bread woke Derek from his thoughts and anxiety. "Thanks Imani, he said." Here's today newspaper, she said before leaving the room. " Did he eat his breakfast, and how is he, asked Dorothy sounding anxious." Patient Dorothy, Imani said calming her down. He is fine,and yes he was eating his breakfast when I left." Dorothy sighed heavily while sitting down. I don't get it, why is he marrying someone like her, clearly everyone can see he is not in love with her, Imani said more like a question to Dorothy and to herself. "Imani don't let Derek or Mrs Stella hear you say that. Even so, it non of our business, said Dorothy standing up to go and help outside.

The Kings Mansion was overcrowded with people making preparation for the wedding. Mrs Stella and her event planner are outside directing everyone as to where to put things. "Imani is my suit ready as I instructed yesterday," asked Derek with his manly voice. "Yes sir, Dorothy strengthen it yesterday and this morning," answered Imani. Derek was standing there still on his pjamas. His biceps showed under those pjamas. He was a tall, smoky man and Imani was drolling at the sight. Snap out of it Imani, she said to herself while slapping her face. Derek was confused as to what just happened." I will be in my room if anyone ask for me, he said and Imani was long gone by then. He went to his room and sat in the couch. "what should I write?" he thought to himself. I have know Emily now for long and dated her for a year but I don't know what to say, he continues to think. " I know why don't we just cancel the wedding because it's clear that we don't love her," said a little voice in his head. "Don't you dare do that. you know what's at stake here," another one said. "Damn, this is so hard," he said standing up and looking outside his window. " Nothing is hard Derek, you are the most powerful person on Kashima and right now we need those shares," said the little voice again. This made Derek to reminisce about the Will left by his grandfather. The Will stipulated three things in them in order for him to inherit the rest of his shares. When he was born he was given 2% shares and when his father died at the age of 13 he received 9% of his father's shares. And now his grandfather has died and he was the only one with majority shares of 36%. He already possessed the 11% shares and only his grandfather's were left. He sighed heavily recall what the laywers said about his grandfather's last wishes. As the lawyer read, "your grandfather has stipulated that this; in my last Will, Derek should inherit all my shares of the company as he is the only grandson I have. In getting the shares Derek should accomplish three things; first is to take over the company and be the CEO. Second is to find a well respected young lady whom he loves and has chosen himself to build a family together. Third the woman he marries should know about the Four principles of the Kings family,( Love, Family and Respect) and when this principles are said by the wife, his mother should be there to ensure that the last principle is correct. And if one of this wishes is not met the shares will all to be given to Stella Hathaway-Kings and she will see to it what is fit and only 20% will be given to her and the rest 16% to be sold to the public. The lawyer sip his water after reading and looked around the room for any objections. "What happened to his shares because the last time I remember grandfather had 51%, asked Stella." "Oh yes, Mrs Stella, Mr Joseph Kings had given away his 15% and we are not disclosed to say to who." These words kept playing on and on in his mind like a record that is stuck in the car radio and you have no choice to listen to it over and over again. "Yeah yeah I know, I can't believe it myself man, laughed Derek. "So where are you going for your honeymoon," asked Joshua sitting on the couch. "Mmmh you know I can't just go to my honeymoon. I have a company to run and since i took over things are still messy and am still getting use to being the CEO of the company. I just can't go now so it should have to wait, replied Derek in a cold almost annoyed voice. His body language said it all. " Oh yes, I thought as much, so here this is my wedding gift to you," said Joshua handing over an envelope to Derek. "You should've not my friend, you being here is enough," replied Derek. "No worries, smiled Joshua, I know how emotionless and clueless you are so I took the liberty to do something. We don't want the new bride or should I say Mrs Kings running away the first day of her wedding night just because you couldn't do one nice thing for her, like her honeymoon," Joshua said jokingly and looking Derek in the eyes who was furious and also glad that he has a friend like Joshua. "Very funny my friend, but thanks anyways" replied Derek as he takes the envelope and opening it. Inside there were two tickets to the Kashima- Quiosim island for a week cruise. "You must be joking right, this tickets are for today, you know I can't just simply leave the company," murmured Derek with a furious voice . "Don't worry everything is taken care of, your mom will look over the company and I will stop by everyday to check up one her," Joshua replied as he stands up towards the door and went out before Derek said another word to him.

"Blair you will be late for your exams, shouted Lucas her brother trying to wake her up. Blair was studying the whole night for her last exams before she starts her residence in four weeks time. She woke up and got ready. " Honey ain't you eating breakfast, asked her mom Ms April. " No, am already late will get something at the cafeteria at school, she replied taking an apple in her way out. "Before you go, what time should I pick you up, Ms April asked. " one o'clock should be fine I need to pick up some supplies for the job anyways, Blair said. "Okay then see you later, and good luck on you exam, Ms April said kissing her daughter on the forehead. "Thanks ma, see your responded Blair. The day was going so fast and Blair couldn't believe it her last exams before her residence in the next few weeks. She walked a mile to the bus stop and found lot of people who were on their way to their jobs. "Did you hear that the Kings' son is getting married today," one of the woman said her voice with jealous. " Yeah I heard my friend, to that b***h," the other woman replied. They both giggled. "That Winston girl doesn't deserve him, she is after his money my friend am telling you," the woman said. ”Don't say that, she is from a wealthy family. why would she marry for money yet she comes from it," asked the other woman with a puzzled face. Blair starred at the women who were gossiping like she wanted to say something. One of the woman starred back with annoyance, "what are you looking at," she shouted and all eyes were now on Emma who was caught off guard by the woman. What are you doing later, maybe we can go out and have some celebration drinks, asked Zach. Mmmh, sorry Zach, I have an internship some sort and its starting today, Blair responded. okay then how about when you take a break from that internship you call me for a coffee, how's that, Zach insisted. I doubt that will be possible. My internship is on a cruiseship, she said looking at her watch. Okay then, when are you coming back, Zach asked and saw Blair looking at her watch. " Do you need to be somewhere, he asked with an annoyed voice after seeing Blair not paying attention to him. " Like I said, my internship starts today, so I need to go and buy some supplies I would need, she said and looked at the direction where her mom parked. " I can offer you a ride, he offered. "Mom, like you said he loves me and I don't. let's just drop it an if you want to date him I can sure give him your number, Blair said annoyed yet jokingly. Laughter broke between the two. " Am so grateful for Mrs Stephanie. You should give me her details I will send some flowers or a thank basket," Ms April said. Blair was so excited about the job. To her it's was like a vacation-job, since she has never been to one or yet alone went out of the country before. She was daydreaming about all the things she wishes to do at the cruiseship. " Your brother is going out to fish again and he will be back in a week's time," interrupted her mother and there was silence for a while in the car. "Blair did you hear what I just said," asked her mom in a worried tone. "Yeah yeah mom I did," as she snapped out of her daydream. "Maybe this will be good for you since you will be all alone for a week you might just call that handsome Dr Jackson of yours and invite him for dinner," she said giggling showing her beautiful smile. Her mother was puzzled for a moment to Blair's words yet she was pleased to hear those words from her. "It has been 4 years since dad died. I think you deserve a little happiness. Don't you think, said Blair. Hearing her daughter say that, brought a smile in her face for the first time since the death of her husband. Her son had already blessed her and she was just worried about Blair. They got home and packed for the Cruise.

CHAPTER 2

There was shouting and movement outside the Kings residence. Everyone was very busy with the preparation of the wedding. Ms Stella had hired the best crew to do the decorations. The Kings Mansion had a beautiful garden, so Derek thought why not have a garden wedding at the Mansion as his parents and grandparents did before.

There were glass chairs in the garden wrapped with golden ribbons. Red and white roses were scattered down the aisle reaching the altar. Doves were placed next to the altar. It was the wedding of the season and everyone was talking about it. Only one channel network was able to secure the live show of it. " Are you ready," asked Mr Jeffrey Winston looking at the beauty of her daughter. " I am father, am so ready, Emily replied looking at the mirror for the last time before they headed out. Estinguished guests from wealthy families were starting to arrive and what they saw was exactly what they expected. The Kings went all out for this wedding. "Mr and Mrs Simmons welcome," said Ms Stella greeting the guest at their arrival. "What a beautiful set up Ms Stella, commented Mrs Simmons looking at the decorations. "Thanks. Go on, someone will show you your sit, said Ms Stella directing the Simmons outside to the garden. Every guests sat down and the ceremony began. "Dad please hold me and don't let me go, am now nervous, Emily said after seeing the crowd who came to witness her union. There were 200 guest present since both families are well known in Kashima. Million years was playing at the background and everyone was on their feet. "What a beautiful bride, murmured Mrs Simmons to her husband. "Indeed honey, and it a power couple. This union will bring us good fortune from now onwards, responded Mr Simmons. The guests were awe of her beauty as she walked down the aisle with her father. This was no ordinary marriage. It was a union between two empires that of Winston Corporation and the most powerful Kings Holding empire which was the most wealthiest and feared family in Kashima. The wedding was perfect and even Derek managed to say his vows. The reception was ravishingly perfect, everything went well, speeches were said and goodbye were made before the couple goes for their cruiseship honeymoon . "Dorothy did you pack everything," asked Derek. " Yes sir, and Ms Emily's things are on their way, she replied. "My things, asked Emily puzzled and confused as to what Derek was on about. I have a surprise for you, said Derek looking at Emily for her reaction. " You and surprises, what a surprise indeed, she responded. "We are going on our honeymoon after this reception, Derek said. "Really, I thought you will be on about work, but I guess we can go, she said with a smile and excitement in her voice. " Then who will look after the company, she finally asked. "Mother will, after all she knows it better than I,he replied. The reception was over and Derek and Emily said their goodbyes for now and headed to the helicopter.

They reached the cruise helicopter zone and got off and handed their bags to their personal staff appointed by the cruise manager. The whole staff was in the hall taking instructions from the manager and giving few points on how to behave with the customers.This cruise was for a week from Kashim port to Quiosim island. The engine started and people were starting to cry, some hugging relatives and some smiling for their loved ones.

Blair was given her own small room since Mrs Johnson insisted when she told her son. She was hoping that they click and date and get married, however, her son told her, "grandma am into man." "Really son, I thought you and Blair can be a couple and maybe someday before I die I get to see my great children," Mrs Johnson said. "Don't worry grams, you will have plenty from Tessa am sure of it, replied Alex and they laughed. However, Blair and Alex did click just not the way Mrs Johnson wanted. She was then showed her station where she will be working from. There were two doctors and three nurses there to meet her. "Hello everyone, this is Ms Blair Lakewood, and this is Dr Angel August and Dr Joe Shepherd and they are married, and this is nurse Jackie, Octavia and Kemal," introduce Alex the manager and most of the staff calls him Mr A. " I hope everyone will take care of you and here's your schedule and call me if you need anything," said Mr A leaving her to Dr August. "Thanks Alex appreciate it," said Blair waving goodbye to Mr A. Everyone welcomed her and introduced themselves one by one. They really made her first day special. "So am Kemal, if you need anything, drink, chat, place to hide anything really am your guy," he said placing his hands on Blair's shoulders. "Don't listen to him Blair, this one is a troublemaker and heartbreaker," said Jackie rescuing her from Kemal." So how do you know Mr A," asked Octavia. She has had a crush on Mr A since she started working here 8 months ago and yet Alex couldn't tell or entertain her. "Who is Mr A," asked Blair confused not with the question per ser but with the attitude it comes with." Alex of course who else," replied Octavia with annoyance in her little voice. "Ohh you mean Alex, actually I don't know him that much expect I only know his grandmother," replied Blair. Octavia was very angry at that statement. Alex has never taken any girl to his grandmother and everyone knew that they are very close and the fact that just some girl knows his grandmother Octavia was angry and annoyed. She was very territorial when comes to Alex. She never confessed her feelings to him, however the whole staff in the ship knew not to get close to him or else they will face Octavia's wrath. "Anyways enough about Mr A, Blair how about a private tour at your service," said Kemal interrupting Octavia who looked like she had tons of questions for Blair. "Yes, please I would love that," said Blair escaping the awkwardness and the look of Octavia like she was ready to murder her as she opens the door for herself and Kemal very fast. "What is this," asked Blair. "This is a hiding space I usually find Mr A hiding at. You can use it for your own spare time if you wishes," replied Kemal. Inside was a small bed and a small table with a chair. The small window could bring in little sunshine but it was enough. "I have to go now my shifts start in the next 5 minutes, I assume you can find your way around now. See you later," said Kemal. He left and Blair went in to the small room. It was very cozy, and lonely since everything inside was small and even not enough sunlight was allowed. She sat at the chair and thought of her mom back home if she has taken her advice from earlier on and prayed for the safety of her brother.

At the Royal ensuit, Emily was unpacking her things and Derek was looking over some emails. They hadn't say any words to each other since they boated the ship. There was weirdness amongst them and neither one of them wanted to break the silence and one can even assume that this was an arranged marriage. The way they acted towards each other didn't show that these two dated for almost a year now and they were in a honeymoon phase. There was no spark and excitement like they used to have when they first met. The marriage was more like a business arrangement. Emily decided to break the silence, "do you want to go to the bar and have a drink with me," she asked Derek in a little horsy voice which seemed scared of Derek. "No love, I need to look over sometime first, but you can go without me I will join you for dinner," he replied in a polite manner. Emily went out taking her handbag with her. Derek as soon as she was out he closed her laptop and called his best friend Joshua. "Hello, are you already tired of your honeymoon and miss me that much," joke Joshua on the other line. "Very funny man, but I wanted to remind you to check up on Stella, I know my mom once she gets to work she doesn't eat and get stress easily," said Derek with a worry voice. Stella and her little sister Brittany were the only family left besides his aunt Margaret and his two cousins Rebeka and Penelope who want to take over the company. "Okay my friend I will," replied Joshua. "So how is the honeymoon going," he asked. "Er... Its going my friend. I think ever since I asked her marry me things changed and she has changed from the fun crazy girl I met to a now more content, wifey person. She speaks to me formally now like she is scared or something, I don't know man," said Derek. "Yeah yeah.. wish I know what you talking about, I am not the one married," joked Joshua. "Maybe, am overthinking it, said Derek making himself see another picture of things. "Of course you are my friend, just relax and enjoy. Anyways, I have a company now talk to you soon," said Joshua hanging up the phone. Derek went outside his suite to the upper deck where he found Mr A. "Oh Mr Kings, everything you asked for is set for tonight, is there anything I can do for you," asked Alex. "Thanks very much," he replied in a polite voice. "One thing I guess, I need a place where I can be alone with no disturbance can you help with that," asked Derek. "Mmmh let me see, oh yes I have the perfect place for you. No one goes there at all I will write you a map," replied Alex taking a piece of paper and draw the map to Derek. He handed over the paper and Derek immediately thanked him and left.

Chapter 3

The door opened and Blair was in deep thoughts she didn't noticed the man at first. There was sunshine rays blocking his image. She looked little scared and worried and her thought went wild wondering if it could be Kemal, maybe he forgot something. Oh no maybe it's Mr A after all this was his hiding space. The figure just kept staring and silent for a moment. When she looked up and clearly this time, a tall, well build body with dark black hair and flawless cute skin like he was a model standing there. Their eyes locked and for a minute without a word. Blair was shy, she has never seen a handsome guy like Derek before. And his eyes has drawn her into deep l**t. "Mmmm, am sorry I thought no one was here as I was told so by the manager," said Derek interrupting the intimate eye contact between the two. "Ohh, no problem I was just sitting you can come in and I will go," said Blair with her sweet voice and that smile of hers that can make any man kneel. Derek looked at her for a moment and her smile made Derek forgot what he wanted to say next. "Did you hear what I just said," Blair repeating her words while she stood up to go out of the room. But Derek couldn't resist as he said, "don't, you were here first, I can come another time and besides I have a dinner to attend to. Still there was so much eye contact between the two and she was flushed and her halze blue eyes were sparkling. "Okay if you say so sir," she replied sitting down again. Derek closed the door and walked towards his suite. When he got there he found Emily taking a shower. "s**t I forgot to ask her her name, thought Derek as he just realized it and sitting down to pour himself some whiskey." Emily came out of the bathroom suite and found Derek sitting watching the sunset as he sip his whiskey and in deep thoughts as he didn't hear her walking in the room. "Derek you have to get ready for dinner love," interrupted Emily. Derek immediately snapped out of it and kissed Emily on her forehead before going to the bathroom to take a shower.

Blair was reminiscing about the man who just entered the room a while ago. She thought to herself that she never had seen a handsome tall guy and let alone had so much eye contact with. Many men have thrown themselves to her in grad school but she was too focused on her studies. The only time she dated was in high school and that was a secret for a while until he brother beat the s**t out of the guy. She look at her watch and realized she was about to start her first shift in the next 15 minutes so. She rushed to her room to take a quick shower before going to the nurse deck. When she got there Dr August assigned her to walk around the upper deck just in case first aid kit is needed, especially in children who often get hurt or the kitchen staff for burning their fingers. She crubbed into her nurse uniform given to her by Dr August and took the first aid kit bag and went outside up in the upper deck.

This was a set up neither Emily or Derek expected. Emily knew Derek was not he romantic type, but to organize something like this proves he is trying to change and do better. They sat down and Mr A offered them menus for their orders tonight. They ordered their food and some wine. They were chatting as they used to do before marriage which was a relief for a change. So, how do you like your honeymoon so far, asked Derek. Well I didn't expect you to do something like this, let alone go to our honeymoon and leave the company so early, replied Emily. Yeah neither did I, it was a wedding gift from Joshua, said Derek with no emotions in his expression. Emily's face expression changed and Derek didn't realize what he just did. After that conversation, they ate their dinner in silence. Not until someone screamed help from the dinner hall next to where Derek and Emily were privately dining. Emily stood up looking towards the direction of the sound and Derek was behind.

A child was lying down suffocating. She couldn't breathe and her mother was shouting for help. Blair came rushing with her first aid kit in hands. Sorry can't you please give way, she said trying to pass the crowd that now surrounding the child and her mother. Derek heard the voice and his eyes were glued on the woman who was talking more like trying to shout with her sweet voice. She finally reach the child and examined her. Is she allergic to anything ma'am, asked Blair to the mom's child. Yes, she is, garlic, the mother replied. Blair took out an EpiPen and pressed to the child's arm. She finally managed to breathe. Take a small breathes in and out, in and out slowly, she said. Everyone applaud to Blair with her bravery and finally dispensed from the scene. So, you are a nurse, asked Derek to Blair . Yes I am sir, she replied. There was so much eye contact and Emily noticed that. Her range was boiling as she watch the scene in front of her. "Sorry ma'am, am Blair Lakewood the ship nurse," she replied snapping out of Derek's spell breaking her eye contact with Derek and finally realized the tension in the room. "The pleasure is all mine ma'am,"replied Blair in a polite voice taking her first aid kit and making her way out

of the dinning hall.

Blair couldn't sleep, her mind was filled with Derek's pictures. She was turning and turning in her small bed. She looked at the watch and find it was 3:00 a.m in the morning. She got up and put on her gown and went outside to get fresh air. She walked around the deck and finally sat on the bench in the upper deck next to the swimming pool. Her thoughts were roaming in her mind. You could see it in her eyes that her thoughts were not just about groceries but because of a guy. She was blushing inevitable. The warm current was adding to her redness on her cheeks. She finally snapped out of it when her thoughts were suddenly invaded by the voice of Emily. ' Am Mrs Emily Kings' those words were now constantly in her head and she can't shake the fact that she was married to the guy she was crushing.
