MYSTIQUE
"Why! I don't want to! Please don't make me." I yelled at Lacy pleadingly.
"Yes! You have to. It will be fun! You have to come to the party!" She said pouting.
"Firstly, I do not have to. Secondly, I do not want to. Thirdly I do not feel like it. Wait, what number am I on now?" I asked as Lacy started invading my cupboard and throwing clothing items onto the bed. I had a feeling she was going to convince me to go to the freaking party I had told River I would not be going to.
"See it's weekend and you are still thinking about maths. You need to chill. I also hate parties but please do it!" Then her face lit up, "We can so make you the hottest girl there! Then Jenny will be so angry, and she can finally get what she deserves. That-"
"Language!" I said.
"Sorry saint! So, you are coming..." she then fished in my cupboard and got the shortest pair of shorts I had ever seen. They were mine, yes, but my aunt had bought them for me, claiming I dressed like a granny. I could, however neither confirm, nor deny her statement.
"Nope, no ways. Please those things could fit a pre-schooler!" I said trying to get it out of her hands. It was a gorgeous blue coloured pair of short shorts which I had planned on burning a few times but had never had the opportunity to.
Lacy placed it on her arm and then grabbed a black off the shoulder crop top.
"Are we going to a party or the beach?" I asked as she threw me the clothes.
"PLEASE, shut up before I put you in the hospital!" She said putting her hand on her head.
"Okay okay! You don't have to be so rude!" I said going to the bathroom to change.
By the time we were done with my hair, make up and clothing I could hardly recognise myself. I for once looked more than plain. This was practically my first time liking the way I actually looked. My hair short hair was now straight instead of curly and gently grazed against my collarbones. My clothes fit me perfectly, revealing a body I had no clue even existed.
"Oh. My. Word! I think I'm jealous!" Lacy said. She was in a short, pale purple dress with a piece of material joint to the back of it. She was absolutely stunning with beautiful pale colours of make up complimenting her beautiful dress and wore a pair of pink ballerina pumps with delicate silk laces wrapping her calves.
"You're jealous! Look at you! You are so gorgeous!" I said in shock. Then I smiled mischievously, "Christian will definitely not be able to resist you!"
Immediately her cheeks flared up, "Hey! Shut up!" She said hitting my shoulder.
I started laughing at her and teasing her.
"Okay, okay! Enough. We're going to be late!" She said grabbing her car keys. We walked downstairs where my parents were watching TV.
"Bye mom, bye dad! See you when I see you!" I yelled as we exited the house. The sky was already a dark navy colour and the glittering stars littered it here and there.
"Okay! Have fun!" They yelled simultaneously. My parents were really quite liberal when it came to socialising, especially because they knew about my shyness.
"Okay so what is your brother's name?" I asked remembering that she had a brother whom I had never even met yet.
"Well I can't tell you. You've actually already met him!"
Well that narrows down the whole male population at our school! I've been meeting people throughout the week. One of them that i***t I was dreading to see- stupid Skyscraper. Hopefully he would be exchanging spit with Jenny the whole night. I prayed he would. I was in no mood for him, especially since I was already uncomfortable in the clothes I was wearing.
"Hey, you okay?" Lace asked as she turned right.
"Mmm? Oh yeah! I'm good! Just thinking of that i***t that will be coming to this party!" I sighed.
She started laughing, "Who is it?"
"River." I said.
Her face paled.
"What is it? Do you know him?" I asked.
She gulped, "He's just an old friend..."
I had a feeling she was hiding something, but I decided to let it go.
''Is this it?'' I asked, stepping out of the car.
The house was massive, practically a palace. "She must have really rich parents!" I said with my mouth open in awe.
"Yup! She do-" but Lacy was cut off, and I soon figured out why. For by the door stood Christian. And not only him but Skyscraper. He stood there in his handsome glory but had a slight frown on his face. His sharp jaw was clenched and his multi coloured eyes were dark and stormy.
"Oh come on dude! I didn't lose... please you know I can't sing!" He was so loud, I could hear him from where I stood.
"No buddy! I told you so! Now you will have to pay up, so on Monday, you will have to sign up.
"You are such a jerk!" He said shoving Christian and then disappearing.
Such a jerk as always. Christian sighed and then he froze when he saw Lacy. His eyes were open in awe as he drank in Lacys appearance. You'd be stupid if you couldn't see how much he liked her. Lacy was frozen too as she just stared at him. It was then that I decided that I needed to help my friend. So, I began to push her slightly, ignoring her protests, until we were both in front of Christian.
"H-hey Lacy..." he stuttered. She smiled and blushed slightly.
"Hi Chris."
"You're looking...wow!" He said breathlessly.
I had to admit I was feeling a bit awkward and so I softly snuck past the two lovebirds.
It was really loud inside and quite claustrophobic. People were dancing and drinking and throwing up.
The place was quite dark compared to outside where the sun still slightly shone. There were luminous lights dancing and casting patterns on the walls and ground.
I couldn't help but notice the jealous stares I got from other girls especially Jenny, and then the lustful, hungry stares I got from some guys which made me very uncomfortable. I was a person, not an object to look at. Immediately I was regretting my clothing choice why did I listen to Lacy? And what's worse is while I was trying to attempt to stretch my clothing to try to conceal myself- it failed by the way- I bumped into a hard chest.
I looked up and was met with crystal blue eyes and blonde hair. He was Jay, and the reason I knew that was because he sat behind me in accounting. Unlike River, he was breathtakingly attractive, smart, and kind.
He wore a white T-shirt and a pair of black trousers. His blonde hair was styled in a sexy, mess and under his glasses he had that brooding look on his face that sort of made butterflies go crazy in my tummy. Another good thing was that he was perfectly sober and smiling at me kindly, not harassing me with his eyes.
"Sorry I didn't see you." I blushed slightly and looked down at the ground as I played nervously with my fingers.
"Oh, that's okay, Mystique." He knew my name! "You are looking very beautiful by the way if you don't mind me saying." He said, his eyes still fixed on mine and shining with genuine kindness.
"Thanks Jay." I said, "I didn't think you were the partying type!"
He chuckled and nervously scratched his neck. "I'm not really. But I was invited so I couldn't refuse I hate it when they pressurised me." He shook his head.
"Same here, Lacy forced me. She even made me wear this," I gestured to my outfit.
"Well I'm glad she did...not the clothes thing, I think you're pretty all the time. I'm glad that you are here.
And he was so smooth! Did he honestly have no imperfections?
"Well, I think I'm glad I came here too!" I said.
"So, wanna dance?" He asked grinning.
"You dance?" I asked curiously.
"You'll see!" He took my hand as he led me through the lounge and then stopped. As soon as the beat dropped, he left me speechless. Was he a professional dancer too? I stood there wide eyed. My gaze was fixed on his smooth movements as I watched him, completely mind blown.
"Come on dance with me!" He grabbed me gently and I started swaying to the beat and attempting to dance with him. In all honesty I wasn't so bad myself.
We started laughing and eventually just ended up enjoy each others company, that was, until Skyscraper happened.
He crashed into both of us and landed on me while poor Jay crashed into a few girls-they didn't mind though.
"SKYSCRAPER!" I yelled getting myself away from him and off of the floor. I was beyond furious with him.
Skyscraper sort of wobbled to a standing position. "H-hey gorgeous... wanna give me a k-kisshhhh..." he was so drunk, and to be honest, I found it quite amusing.
"I don't know, do you want a slap?" I folded my arms with a grin on my face.
"S-s-so funny! Assssss alwayssss!" He chuckled dragging out the 's' sound. Then he came towards me but just then Jay stopped him
"You are drunk! AGAIN!" He said pulling River towards him.
"Hey to you too b-b-buddy. I see you have m-m-met my friend, Mysssssstique!" He mumbled drunkenly through his sentence.
"I didn't know you two were friends..." I could see the worry in Jay's eyes and I realised what his version of friends was.
"No, I mean yes, I mean- I'm not sleeping with him!" I yelled out so loud that a few of the sober people heard and they turned towards us, enjoying this particular conversation.
I could see Jay starting to relax and then a smile appeared on his face.
"Good! So, are you guys... normal friends then?"
While I said no Skyscraper said yes.
"Yeasssss we a-are!" He slurred.
"No!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
"Y- oh I think Im gonna be sick!" And with that he threw up the contents of his stomach onto the floor. Then he wiped his mouth and gagged.
Although the whole situation was nothing short of absolutely disgusting, I truly felt sorry for him- okay, that was an honest lie. This whole situation was too amusing. Serves this i***t right for drinking so much. It had me wondering whether or not to take a video and post it on the internet.
"Let's take him to the bathroom!" Jay said.
I agreed and followed him by also placing one of Skyscraper's arms onto my shoulders. He was so heavy!
We walked upstairs to one of the bathrooms and rested Skyscraper against the toilet. He proceeded to throw up while I tried to bite back a laugh. How did he get drunk so quickly!
"So, are you too close?" I asked Jay.
"Well sort of. We are old friends. Let's just say that this isn't the first time."
"You are such a caring person! I mean you could've left him and carried on with the party!" I said.
He sighed, "I will always respect him. He has been and still is a good friend to me. Inside, River is really a good person. He just likes to mask it up, so he won't get hurt." It seemed as though there was a lot about River I didn't know. Maybe I shouldn't have judged him so quickly.
I stayed silent for a moment. And then I turned towards Jay. "Does he have any siblings?" I asked. Maybe his sibling died and that's why he was such a jerk?
"Well, he has a twin sister in our school!" I gasped.
"A twin sister?"
"Yeah, but they are really, really not identical... at all!" He said.
"Whats her name?"
"It's-"
But he was cut off as soon as Lacy burst through the door. Her lips were swollen and had no more lip gloss on them. Her lilac hair was also in messy shambles and her cheeks were red.
"Hey, Lacy what's going on?" I asked concerned. Was she feeling ill?
Lacy froze and paid no attention to me when she saw River puking his lungs out.
"What happened to him?" She asked, now coming in the bathroom too. Was this becoming the new place for the party?
"Alcohol happened!" I giggled.
She rolled her eyes and laughed too.
"So, what happened to you..." I asked her.
Jay, whom I had forgotten was there started clearing his throat.
"I'm here too!" He said also butting in.
Lacy looked at him shocked.
"Um...Jay, I didn't see you here." She then looked toward me and then back at Jay.
"You two are in here...together?" She asked. I could see where her mind was getting at.
He crossed his arms and said, "Yeah, well we were together until your brot-"
"Ooooh look at the time... I think I'm going to go home with Christian. I'm leaving my car keys with you, take it and leave it at your house, I'll pick it up!" She handed me the car keys.
And finally, it dawned on me what had happened.
I turned towards her and winked, "Dont do anything I wouldn't do!" I mimicked Miss Harmony. She blushed and gave me a punch on the shoulder.
"Same to you too!" She winked at me.
"Oh, shut up and go with your boyfriend!" I giggled.
She punched me again and then walked out of the bathroom.
"What was that about?" Jay asked smiling at me.
"Oh nothing, you wouldnt understand!"
He nodded with a sigh, reluctant to pry anymore than he had already, and then looked at Skyscraper.
"Should we take him home?" He asked.
"We could do that... or we could put him in Lacy's car and carry on with the party!" I said raising an eyebrow.
Jay smirked devilishly.
"That's a plan!"
And with that we placed River in the car and carried on enjoying ourselves at the party. We are such nice people, right?
However, as the night progressed, I couldn't help but feel guilty. And so, I left the party early and forced Jay to take him home.
