A Serenade Under the Stars

397 Words
Lila had always been a dreamer, her heart set on the stars. Living in a small town with a sky unblemished by city lights, she spent countless nights on the rooftop, gazing at constellations and wondering what life had in store for her. Across town lived Ethan, a gifted musician with a heart full of melodies. He played the guitar like it was an extension of his soul, his music drifting through open windows and capturing the hearts of those who heard it. Yet, despite his talent, Ethan was shy and reserved, sharing his music only with the night. One summer evening, Lila decided to explore the town's annual stargazing festival. As she wandered through the park, her eyes caught sight of a small stage where a young man was playing the guitar. Drawn by the hauntingly beautiful melody, she moved closer, captivated by the music. It was Ethan, lost in his own world, unaware of the audience he had gathered. When Ethan's song came to an end, the crowd erupted in applause, bringing him back to reality. His eyes scanned the faces until they locked with Lila’s. In that moment, both felt a spark—an unspoken connection that neither could ignore. After the performance, Lila approached Ethan, her heart pounding. “That was beautiful,” she said softly. Ethan smiled, a rare light in his eyes. “Thank you. I’m Ethan.” “I’m Lila,” she replied. “Do you play here often?” Ethan shook his head. “This is the first time. I usually just play for myself. But something about tonight felt different.” They spent the rest of the evening talking, discovering a shared love for the night sky and the stories it held. Ethan told Lila how he composed his music inspired by the stars, and Lila shared her dreams of exploring the universe. Days turned into weeks, and Lila and Ethan’s bond grew stronger. They spent their evenings together—Ethan playing his guitar while Lila pointed out constellations, weaving tales of ancient myths and celestial wonders. Their rooftop became their sanctuary, a place where music and starlight danced together in perfect harmony. One night, under a particularly clear sky, Ethan handed Lila a small, wrapped package. “I wrote a song for you,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Lila’s eyes widened with surprise.
