BRIANNA’S POV I cursed my fate, wondering why everything was going so wrong for me. My heart ached as I sat by my mother’s side, gripping her frail hand. My tears soaked into the sheets. “Mom, please,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “Say something... anything.” But there was no response. Not even a flicker of movement. Her face remained still. Her body didn’t move an inch. It was like she was trapped in her own body, and I had no way to reach her. The doctor had explained the cause of the paralysis, but his words only made my frustration grow. Nothing he said felt like a real answer. Nothing he said could fix this. My father placed a hand on my shoulder, and pulled me into a hug. He was trying to be strong, trying to comfort me, but I could hear the pain in his voice when he spoke.
