Standing outside the hospital room, watching Brianna lying there, pale and fragile, felt like being torn apart.
Every shallow breath she took made my chest tighten even more. The room was filled with the steady beep of the heart monitor. It felt like it was the only thing holding her to this world. Kevin and Anthony stood beside me. They were both silent, broken. The doctor’s words haunted us. Brianna might not make it. A miracle, he had said. It would take a miracle for her to make it, but there was a chance.
“Please,” Kevin begged the doctor “Do everything. Anything. She’s our mate… we can’t lose her.”
