Rhoda at this point knew the Bismark that she knew and loved before was no longer there yet she hoped that he would at least not hurt her this much, so couldn't even look him in the eyes, all she sees when she looks him in the eyes is the Bismark that nearly killed, the Bismark that didn't care about her happiness anymore.
