Chapter 5

Suddenly, a heavy voice came, seemingly mixed with shouts. Skyler's vision went black, and she instinctively crouched down, curling up. The basketball hit her head steadily, then drew a beautiful arc and rolled to the side with a "bang bang bang," accompanied by water from the rain. Here it comes again! The pain in her head felt like it was tearing apart, as if something was urgently trying to burst out. It hurt so much. Skyler crouched down, constantly groaning in pain. "Are you okay?" A gentle voice came, filled with concern, and entered Skyler's ears with a special flavor. She looked up, dumbfounded, unable to hide the grievances in her eyes. She watched the boy walk to the side to pick up the basketball. Although the rain had soaked his shirt, he still smiled brightly, just like the person in her heart. Suddenly, he turned back, crouched down, and smiled, "It's raining, and you're dressed so lightly, you might catch a cold. I'm sorry for not catching the pass earlier, is your head still hurting?" As he spoke, he thought about reaching out to rub her head, but then thought it might not be appropriate, so he just looked at her. This unusually disheveled girl, who was pitifully soaked by the rain, had her face blurred by the rain... but he could still see... tears. Skyler also froze. This smile, this helpless but undisguised concern, was so much like Joshua. After a long time, she realized that staring at someone like this might not be appropriate, and she hurriedly turned her gaze away, blushing, and gave the boy a faint smile before escaping. The next day, the weather was unusually beautiful, perhaps due to the cleansing of the rain, the air felt even fresher. Skyler carefully held a large jar of lucky stars and walked out of the dormitory towards the school. After school yesterday, she braved the rain to look for a while and finally found the same glass jar as before, with the same colored paper, and completed the missing star. Now, there were still 1000 stars, everything was still intact. Lost in her thoughts, several figures entangled in an argument at the school gate caught her attention. "Don't bother me anymore, I want to study in California!" Wendy shouted, disgustingly shaking off the hand of the boy beside her. "Tsk..." Another boy next to him hummed dissatisfiedly, casually spitting out the gum in his mouth, his colorful hair mocking Wendy, "Study well? What a joke, Wendy, will you study well?!" "Get lost." Ignoring the mocking laughter of those people, Wendy frowned, forcefully shaking off the other person's grip, but still couldn't get rid of him. Seeing the situation getting more and more tense, Skyler didn't have time to think and rushed forward, "Let her go, she said she doesn't want to deal with you guys." "Haha, Wendy has really changed, she actually made friends with such a good girl." The boy who was just holding onto Wendy suddenly let go of her hand, turned to look at Skyler with a wicked smile, with a discomforting lewdness in his eyes. Seeing an opportunity, Wendy quickly pulled Skyler and rushed towards the school gate, their speed was so fast that Skyler didn't have time to react and figure out what had happened. When she foolishly snapped out of her daze, they were already on the tree-lined path in California. "I'm a bad girl, why did you help me?" Wendy spoke, bringing Skyler's sluggish thoughts back. "Huh?" Skyler turned her head, looking confused, then remembered the help Wendy had recently extended to her, and smiled sweetly, "I don't think you're a bad girl." "You're such an idiot." Wendy cursed helplessly, turned her head, but couldn't help but be amused by Skyler's focused expression in the end.
