“Nick?” She softly called out.

Nothing. She closed the door and walked toward the bedroom. What she saw completely melted her heart. It was in that moment she knew it would break her to give him up in two weeks, but what option did she have. There in the queen size bed was Nick sound asleep. He made a simple purring sound. He had never looked more sexy. He had some how managed to take his t-shirt off and was bare to the waist. Raegan wondered if he had managed to completely undress.

She noticed the discarded dinner tray on the bed beside him. She decide to let him sleep but quietly went to remove the tray and its contents from his bed. A groggy voice behind her said, “Angel, is that you?”

Raegan turned around. “Shhh, go back to sleep. I didn’t mean to wake you” she said as she soothed his cheek. He reached up with his free hand and caught her hand in his.

Raegan just smiled back. “Any chance you have come to a decision of our future?” Nick asked as he studied her face. He noticed she had added a few touches to her makeup. He reached up to grab a piece of her hair, “You really should wear your hair down more often” he said as he ran it around his fingers.

She stood up and walked to the other side of the room. She needed distance if she was going to get all this out. Nick’s face fell. He read her retreat as a bad sign.

“Do I want to hear this?”

Raegan cleared her throat, “I want you. But I am limited in what I can offer you. I don’t want to hurt you or use you. I want to be open and as honest as I can be. I can give you the next 14 days and then I’m out and it is over.”

“ It isn’t just about me. There are things in the past that make this impossible to continue. There a more than just me depending on me right now. I can’t lose my job. I’m sorry. Nick had to admit it wasn’t completely what he wanted to hear but it was something. In reality, he didn’t know that he could offer more than a few weeks. Raegan stood staring at the floor. He could tell it had taken a lot for her to come say what she did and what she offered was all she had to give. Was it enough for him?

“Agreed.”
